We had a lovely time seeing the beautiful landscape of the mountains and visiting the villages. Mustapha and Hamid were very welcoming and aproachable. We took a few breaks along the way, we experienced the culture and atmosphere of the Atlas moutains.
This was the highlight of our days in Marrakech. Please include this trip on your agenda if time permits. A refreshing day away from the hustle and bustle of Marrakech and the medina. Breathing mountain air, the quiet of the hike, the picturesque mountains and waterfalls, hearing the baaahs of the lambs roaming,it was a welcomed change for our family. Our three children (13 and 10) loved it too. Our guide was Mr El Houssain and he was so friendly and warm with very good English. He explained everything in detail to us. You can see how proud he is to share his Berber heritage and culture with tourists. He is made for this job, and in fact he said it was his dream as a childd and you can tell. He took very good care of everyone on the tour, for example holding my hand when crossing slippery rocks over the falls, and assuring everyone to follow their own pace and not rush. He took us to his own cousin’s home for lunch where we were treated to the most delicious tagine (veg and chicken options) and far exceeded any restaurant tagine we had on this trip. We were welcomed like family. In fact, that was what made this village to the mountains so special, we were not treated like a tour group but rather a group of Mr ElHossain’s friends. I was a bit nervous ahead of this trip because there was some delay in finalizing the time/place for morning pickup, and I like to plan/know in advance. But once we were in the van it was smooth sailing. They even allowed us to store our luggage in the van since we were in between hotels that day. Only disappointment was we booked for Friday so we could see the Berber market but because of Eid last week, turned out not to have a market today. Be sure to bring cash for the lunch, to be paid directly over there.
the departure was timely, the car was very clean and comfortable, Hamid spoke excellent English and was very informed having answered all our silly questions. The food was very nice, the walk was gentle and safe, the views were stunning. Too short… I would have gladly stayed for another day.
Incredible day in the mountains with our guide Charaf, the views were amazing and lunch was superb. The tagine was delicious and the mint tea on the terrace below the mountains was pretty spectacular. Would highly recommend this to others. The waterfalls were great. A little rocky to descend to and a little slippy in places but just take your time with comfortable footwear and you'll be fine. We also visited a Berber market which was a real insight to the daily life and the cooperative with the women who make the Argan Oil, was also interesting and the products were very good too. The trip was a little longer than the advertised 8 hours. We left about 9am and got back to the city about 7pm, perhaps we were a little slower than other groups but worth bearing in mind if you wanted to book evening excursions too on the same day. We were having a great time though so didn't bother us at all. Would highly recommend.
Excursion that is definitely worth it. Fabulous scenery. Welcome and availability of the simple and pleasant Guide The homestay meal is a treat and the family welcome. Day away from places too touristy in small committee that allows exchanges. To do absolutely.
Thank you Lahssen for a really friendly day, we spent one of the most beautiful moments of our trip with you and this excursion to the waterfalls and the view of the Atlas Mountains were really worth the detour, it was great and to do again with joy! I highly recommend this excursion!!! Choukran bezef bezef! B'slama!

Discovery of the atlas thanks to our Guide very attentive to our questions of all kinds and our will s , magnificent walk under the walnuts first and in a lunar decor en suite, impressive view and very nice people met . A huge thank you to Lachen our Guide for his investment his patience and kindness , highly recommended Perfect daily excursion to get out of the hubbub of Marrakech. Beautiful little walk in the beginnings of the Atlas. Places visited very authentic. Particularly nice Guide, excellent meal. Not to be missed.
A hidden gem of an excursion! Me and my family had a great time on this gentle hike trip with our fabulous guide Elhoussain! He had great communication with us and was very knowledgeable giving all of the history of the area and recommendations of what to do in Marrakesh. He took the walk at a nice steady pace for us all to handle and was a complete darling with the poor girl who was unwell and threw up. He was super friendly and even took us for a lovely home cooked meal at his family home! The trip overall was stunning and the views were exceptional. Highly recommend going on a Tuesday or a Saturday as the Market was a great addition to the trip. 10 out of 10, would do it again!
Amazing visit to the Atlas with our great Elhoussain Guide! ⛰️ We visited a local souk (nothing to do with the big souk of Marrakech) an argan cooperative, a pottery store while going towards the atlas in a very comfortable car, we talk a lot on the way and Elhoussain answers all our questions, he knows his mountains and his history! The hike in the Atlas is amazing, the view is beautiful, the setting is idyllic, away from the noise and bustle of the city, just nature and us! Arriving at the top of the Atlas, Elhoussain shows us around his home village and takes us to taste good dishes prepared by his mother and sister. From the entrance to the desert to the tea, it was delicious, the dishes were tasty and generous! We attack the decent Atlas, passing through the forest, in the shade of trees, accompanied by the sound of waterfall, we meet locals, and some hikers. This day is part of our best activity we could do during our trip, both for the beauty of the scenery, and for the sympathy of Elhoussain, his family and his driver. Thank you! 🥰 If you are looking for an authentic activity in Morocco, the visit of the Atlas with Elhoussain is for you! (I took care not to reveal everything in photos, you will see the rest on site ☺️)
Elhoussain is a Very nice person, very welcoming with great values. We had great exchanges, he is very keen on answering all of our questions. First, we went to a “real” souk (small and local), we also stoped at a women’s cooperative of Argan and to a local pottery shop. Then it was time for the hick, we went with 2 friends with different abilities to climb the Atlas. Elhoussain had a back up plan with his driver (very nice too and a good driver) for those who can’t climb, but we didn’t need it. When we arrived at his childhood village, he took us to his mother’s house and she cooked lunch for us with his sister in front of the atlas. We have to say that we were surprised by their kindness and hospitality mostly because we were in a period of ramadan, and we didn’t feel any discomfort. After that we went to a small waterfall by the village where you can drink fresh orange juice with your feet in the water, we met the locals on our way down, it was very resourceful, far away from the noise of the city, and the landscape was amazing! A great thing about Elhoussain that we have to point out is that he chooses not too work with the camels, even if it means less attractive tours, because he wants to show us that we can work in tourism but in a more ethical way. We all agreed on the fact that it was one of the best encounter and activity of our trip. I recommend to everyone who loves nature, great local food, and people Thank you Elhoussain
