Itinerary

30 min

Dive into the chaotic beauty of Djemaa el-Fna as the sun sets and the square transforms into a mesmerizing open-air restaurant. Take a seat on a local wooden bench at a bustling food stall, surrounded by the savory smoke of grills and the rhythmic sounds of musicians. Here, you will taste a piping-hot bowl of Harira—Morocco's most famous and comforting soup. Served in a deep bowl with a traditional wooden spoon, this experience is as much about soaking in the electric atmosphere as it is about savoring the rich, authentic flavors.

30 min

Venture into the medina for a true Moroccan delicacy: Tihane (stuffed spleen). Perfect for adventurous foodies, this savory street food features tender meat meticulously stuffed with minced beef, rice, and fresh herbs. Slow-roasted until perfectly succulent, the filling is deeply infused with classic spices like cumin, coriander, and garlic. Watch as the local vendor slices it fresh and serves it sandwich-style inside warm, traditional khobz or batbout bread. Top it off with a drizzle of spicy harissa or pickled vegetables for an unforgettable, authentic bite!

30 min

Step up to a steaming, bubbling cauldron for one of Marrakech's most iconic street foods: Babbouche. These small land snails are meticulously cleaned and slow-cooked for hours in a legendary, highly aromatic broth. The secret is a complex infusion of up to 35 different Moroccan herbs and spices, including aniseed, licorice, thyme, and mint. Sip the peppery, herbaceous broth—which locals swear by for its warming, soothing properties—before enjoying the earthy, slightly sweet snail meat. It’s an unforgettable, savory experience that truly captures the essence of the medina!

60 min

Escape the bustling medina and step into the tranquil courtyard of a traditional Riad for a masterclass in legendary Moroccan hospitality. Here, you will partake in a time-honored tea ceremony, sipping sweet mint tea paired with an exquisite selection of handmade pastries. Let the delicate aromas of orange blossom water, honey, and cinnamon wash over you as you sample iconic, almond-based treats like sweet Gazelle Horns (Kaab el Ghazal), crumbly Ghriba, crunchy Fekkas, and the decadent, honey-drenched Chebakia. It is the perfect, peaceful finale to your culinary adventure.

Highlights

The spleen (usually beef, but sometimes lamb or camel) is stuffed with a savory mixture of minced meat (beef, lamb, or camel), rice, spices, and herbs.
Babbouche (Snails in Broth) The Preparation: The snails are small land snails (often Helix Aspersa) that are cleaned meticulously and then slow-cooked for several hours in a large, bubbling cauldron.
selection of delicate Moroccan sweets and cookies is always served alongside the tea. These are typically almond-based and flavored with aromatic ingredients like orange blossom water, honey.
Harira is not just a soup; it's a traditional, hearty meal that is essential to Moroccan culture, particularly during the holy month of Ramadan when it is used to break the daily fast.

The Night Life in Marrakech Tour with Az-eddine did not disappoint.

In December 2023, I traveled with family to Morocco for the first time and was excited to book the Night Life in Marrakech Tour with Az-eddine. We met at Jamaa El Fna market square, the heart of the medina, and for the next three hours, we walked the narrow cobbled streets and tasted traditional Moroccan foods. Az-eddine guided us past the high-traffic areas of vendors and tourists to historical landmarks on quiet roads where locals and dignitaries worked and lived; his knowledge of Morocco's past expanded our already colorful canvas of the city. Later, we ventured outside the medina, where we easily/comfortably navigated crowded sidewalks/streets and admired the beautiful architecture of the Koutoubia Mosque. Throughout the evening, we enjoyed an assortment of delicious eats that made the non-vegans and one vegan happy; Az-eddine was great/sensitive in identifying food vendors that catered to my dietary restrictions. As a guide, Az-eddine's generosity, kindness, and patience (answering our plethora of questions) sweetened our experience even more. The Night Life in Marrakech Tour with Az-eddine did not disappoint.

Late & unorganized

The guide showed up 45 minutes late and this was AFTER I contacted Viator for help as he did not answer my calls. When he showed up he said he forgot and was sleep. The tour was very rushed and consisted of one building, then the rest of the time we walked down many dark alleys. Definitely not worth it and I would not recommend. There are plenty other guides/tours/groups you should choose from.

Operator response

The lady was lying, I told her I had email concern as I told trip advisor customer service,I came soon as I could. I made the tour for her even if she was a single person. We made the tour longer as use to be.

Interesting way to see the night medina

This was a good way to see the Medina and square at night without being too overwhelmed or getting lost. Our guide was kind and informative and also stopped a few places for us to try a variety of street food. The only strange thing was wrapping the evening up-we were quite suddenly handed to a taxi driver who seemed confused about where he was taking us and our guide left quickly so we weren’t able to tip him. The taxi driver needed assistance finding a drop off point for our Riad but we got there.

Like walking with a very knowledgeable friend through Marrakesh-Safi vibrant nightlife

Absolutely lovely tour through the nightlife of Marrakesh medina. You see a lot and learn a lot about Moroccan culture and the history of the country and city. Why the ally’s are so small and some doors are split into two! I absolutely loved the tour and felt like walking with a very knowledgeable friend through Marrakesh! Great to see how the city changes from daytime to nighttime to after hours! Definite recommendation.

Night life in Marrakech

We ve been in Marrakech for doctors conference and we had some free times to enjoy Marrakech, our Guide Az-eddine came and pick-up from our hotel and we had a nice walk. We had a wonderful time sharing a drink at Mamounia Hotel then the walk trough Koutoubia Gardens and then explore the city night time, it was amazing. Our guide was brilliant. We had our special local Tangia which was so delicious. Many thanks to our guide, he was perfect.
