Itinerary

Pass by

Your private, air-conditioned vehicle arrives at your hotel or riad door at 8:00 AM sharp. If your riad is inside the medina and inaccessible by car, your guide will meet you at the nearest accessible point — all communicated in advance. The 45-minute drive south takes you through the outskirts of Marrakech and into the foothills of the High Atlas, with your guide sharing the history of the Berber people and pointing out landmarks along the way.

40 min

Your first stop is a women-run argan oil cooperative — one of the most praised stops on any Atlas Mountains tour. Watch the traditional stone-grinding process, taste argan oil and amlou (the Berber version of nut butter), and enjoy a complimentary Berber breakfast: fresh bread, mint tea, honey and argan oil. This is a no-pressure environment — purchases are welcome but never expected.

120 min

Enter the High Atlas on foot with your local Berber guide. Walk through traditional villages of mudbrick homes, past terraced vegetable gardens and walnut orchards. Your guide introduces you to local families and explains Berber architecture, farming traditions, and daily life. Stop at elevated viewpoints over the Three Valleys — on clear days you can see the snow-capped summit of Mount Toubkal, the highest peak in North Africa at 4,167m. The walk is suitable for most fitness levels — roughly 3–4km on flat to gently rising paths.

60 min

Sit down for a home-cooked Berber lunch inside a local family's home — the single most praised element in reviews across all top Atlas Mountains tours on Viator. A typical spread includes harira soup, Moroccan salads, a slow-cooked lamb or vegetable tagine, and seasonal fruit, followed by fresh mint tea. The setting is intimate — travelers genuinely feel like guests, not tourists. Vegetarian options are always available and should be noted at booking.

Pass by

Agafay Desert camel ride on the return On the drive back to Marrakech, stop at the Agafay Desert — a dramatic rocky moonscape just 30 minutes from the city. Mount your camel for a ride across the stony desert plains, with the Atlas Mountains as a backdrop behind you and Marrakech in the distance ahead. A completely different landscape from the green valleys of the morning — and the perfect final memory before returning to the city. Drop-off at your hotel around 5:30 PM.

Beautiful landscape, really worth it, the very imposing mountains and their valleys very frondosos of an intense green, a great silence, an immense tranquility. Lunch at the house of a very good family. And the village of Ait Benhaddou is very characteristic very beautiful, deserves a climb up to the top of its castle. Very good guide and driver too

Amazing guide! Would highly recommend.

In January my Dutch boyfriend and me were lucky to have Abdel as our guide! We went on the most beautiful hike up to the mountains. Abdel arranged everything perfectly, and was full of knowledge of the neigbourhood! Also his English is perfect. It was definitely our highlight of the trip and would strongly recommend!

Super accommodating w bad back considerations

Abdul, a young entrepreneur started this first class tour company and has gained our full support & respect. His English is superb, knowledge of country of Morocco is fantastic. He is born/ raised nearby and went to university in Marrakech where he studied business/english. We were the only ppl on the tour (private usually includes a few others so we were surprised) and that made this day extra special. We stopped for views, photo opportunities and small shops. Went to an Argon oil co-op to see ladies making oils and enjoyed education & sampling products. We drove very High up Atlas Mountains ( Toubkal in sight) to a small village where he was raised to see the local life, learn traditions and enjoy the countryside. I never knew this greenery and beauty existed before this tour!! Lots of twists and turns which our driver Ham-mad did an excellent job. We felt very safe in this Mercedes van. Ham-mad drove us far up to avoid so much walking which was great. We had an excellent lunch in his parent’s home and were delighted to interact w his family and learn more about the local life. These are the things we all remember most about traveling; not the souvenirs shopping, but the local ppl themselves!! Our final time on the tour was to experience a camel ride which was in a beautiful field w lots of green grass and flowers everywhere! We sure enjoyed this day and highly recommend this tour company for any excursion you desire!!

An excellent friendly and well informed guide who with an equally committed driver ensured I had an unforgettable day.

My guide Abdul was friendly and attentive ensuring I saw and understood everything on my tour. He even introduced me to friends. I was made very welcome in his family home. Both he and the excellent driver Mohammed ensured I had good photo opportunities and did everything to ensure I had a good day. Both spoke English. Abdul having studied English at university was fluent. Suffice to say that Abdul and Mohammed ensured I had a very good day, the best of my stay in Marrakesh.

Operator response

We were absolutely delighted to read your kind words about your tour and, in particular, about your guide, Abdul, and your excellent driver, Mohammed. It is our mission to provide not just tours, but truly memorable and authentic experiences, and it sounds like Abdul and Mohammed delivered on that promise perfectly. We are especially proud to hear that Abdul's attentiveness, his fluent English (a testament to his university studies!), and the warm welcome you received at his family home stood out as highlights. Your mention of their efforts to ensure good photo opportunities and the overall successful day is highly valued. It is fantastic to know this was the best day of your stay in Marrakesh. We will certainly pass on your high praise to both Abdul and Mohammed. They are valued members of our team, and feedback like yours is incredibly motivating. We hope to welcome you back on another tour soon!

Atlas Mountain Getaway - Perfect for Families

From our front door to the Atlas Mountains, Abdel & Mohammed were incredibly blessed hosts. We made various stops along the way to take in the beautiful sights, recharge with fresh-squeezed juice next to waterfalls, and visit with Abdel’s warm and welcoming family over couscous and tagine. My 3-year-old son loved the camel ride after a scenic ride through the desert, as we rode alongside a baby camel in traditional dress with delicious tea just before our journey home. 100/10 - I’d recommend to anyone looking to visit the mountains and escape the heat in Marrakech

fantastic experience - 5 stars

we had an amazing experience hiking the trails with Abdul. he was very knowledgeable and made our trip run very smoothly. he is a great conversationalist and very down to earth. the journey up the mountains was incredible; the views are breathtaking, the food was delicious and nourishing after long days of walking. we were fortunate enough to meet many generous and welcoming locals and other travellers. i would highly recommend this trip to anyone. we booked extremely last minute and the team made sure we were informed and well looked after throughout. visit imlil and book with imlil trekking - you will not regret it!
