Itinerary
Your adventure begins in the heart of Marrakech at the lively Jemaa El Fna square, or with a comfortable pick-up from your hotel/riad. As you leave the city behind, the scenery quickly shifts from the buzz of Marrakech to the calm of the Atlas foothills.
We’ll pause in Tahanaout for photos of the picturesque Azrou village, nestled in the mountains. Here, you’ll visit a women’s cooperative where locals share the secrets of making Morocco’s liquid gold: argan oil. It’s a chance to meet Amazigh women and see how traditions are passed from generation to generation.
The road continues to Asni, a small mountain town. If you’re visiting on a Saturday, you’ll experience the colorful weekly Berber market, where villagers come from miles around to trade goods, animals, and fresh produce — a true window into Atlas life.
Arriving in the beautiful Imlil Valley, you’ll meet your local mountain guide for a gentle hike through waterfalls, walnut groves, and Amazigh villages. Along the way, you’ll discover how mountain life is shaped by the seasons, the land, and the warm hospitality of its people.
At a panoramic point, you’ll admire Mount Toubkal, the highest peak in North Africa, standing proudly over the valley. Then, enjoy a traditional Moroccan lunch in a family-run guesthouse — simple, delicious dishes served with breathtaking views of the High Atlas.
In the afternoon, we drive back through the mountains to Marrakech. You’ll be dropped off at your hotel/riad or back at Jemaa El Fna square, carrying with you the sights, tastes, and stories of the Atlas Mountains.

This was an overall bad experience starting from the selected pick up point. Viator system with this provider was was with our pick up but the evening before the trip, the provider refused to come and Asked us to come to the medina. So it costs us 25 euros more total. Then the non french speaking driver overnigth asked us to join 30 minutes later in another hotel along the medina and the travel agenda Never confirmed and pick es up my calls. We Made it anyway. Then there was a guide (not an official guide I believe) only in imlil for the hiking to the waterfall and that took us to his place for a unique menu for lunch of chicken tajine with the smallest piece of chicken we could get so not more than half a breast to be share between mum and kid…. But well served with vegetable and fruit.. but We needed more proteins. So I would have had something better served in a restaurant in Imlil. The hiking was feasible but it was windy and cold and we were not dressed for such conditions so Check the weather in imlil before leaving Marrakech as It is very different. Globally speaking I would not recommend that tour operator.
We had a great time exploring the Atlas Mountains. Got a traditional breakfast in a village, learned about how they make Argan oils, hiked through the mountains and saw a beautiful waterfall and enjoyed a traditional lunch! Then we rode camels and drove back to the city. Youssef was a great tour guide & made our trip with everyone relaxed and fun!
We had a very nice trip to Imlil in a small group of 7 people. It was a fantastic beautiful hike we were on, Mohamed was a really good guide, who told a lot about the area and the local population. The trip ended with a delicious lunch at Mohamed’s house, which his wife had prepared. Friendly greetings Per
Tusind tak for din dejlige besked. Det glæder os virkelig at høre, at I havde en så fin tur til Imlil og nød vandreturen i det smukke område. Vi er meget glade for at høre, at Mohamed gjorde turen ekstra speciel med sin viden om området og den lokale befolkning. Han vil helt sikkert blive stolt over at høre jeres ros. Og hvor er det skønt, at I også fik en god afslutning på dagen med den hjemmelavede frokost – det er altid noget helt særligt. Tak fordi I tog jer tid til at dele jeres oplevelse. I er altid meget velkomne igen.
The trip Atlas mountains + Camel in Agafay rock desert organinized by Adrar trips from Marrakesh was a great experience and opportunity to explore the other landscapes of Morocco. Pickup and drop-off was seamless. First we stopped at the pottery and hand-made craft products shop, having opportunity to make pictures of the valley and mountains with snow hills. Then we visited cooperative to see how argan oil is made and sample some products with small breakfast. We continued to the mountains for hiking, paragliding, having the lunch with locals and camels riding in the Agafay rock desert. Our tour guide and driver Jamal was so helpful and friendly. He was born in Atlas mountains village, he knows the environment, climate and life there best. In addition he has been working for this travel agency more then 5 years, so is very professional, well-informed, easy to make conversation with and made sure we enjoyed ourselves to the max. I met very nice and amazing people from different countries and had a great day with unforgettable experience. I would definitely recommend booking this trip for your experience something new.
