Exploring Australian fauna, flora, culture, and local wineries.

It was magnificent! I definitely made a good use of the money in this tour. It was a small group - my husband, me, and two more couples - and it was a fun, interesting, and an enriching experience about wines, Australian fauna, flora and culture. Sean, the guider, is extremely knowledgeable and made this experience unforgettable. I look forward to returning to Margaret River and doing this tour again.

Thanks so much Maria — what a wonderful review to read. I’m absolutely thrilled you felt the tour was such good value and that the day gave you such a rich mix of wine, nature, wildlife, local culture and a few good laughs along the way. It was a real pleasure spending the day with you, your husband and the rest of our small group. That small-group feel is such a big part of what makes the day special, so I’m delighted it helped make the experience fun, relaxed and memorable. I’d love to welcome you back to Margaret River again one day — there’s always more wine, coastline, wildlife and local stories waiting to be discovered. Warm regards, Sean 😊

Go ahead and book this trip.

Sean was very knowledgeable and made the trip so much fun. We did some kayaking in the morning, had lunch at a vineyard and walked along a cliff path in the late afternoon. It was nice that it was a small group tour. I would highly recommend this trip if you are in Margaret River.

Operator response

Thanks for the wonderful review and recommendation. I'm stoked you enjoyed the day and the variety of experiences. One of the things I love most about Margaret River is that within a single day you can paddle the river, enjoy a long winery lunch, explore spectacular coastal scenery and still feel like you've only scratched the surface. The small group format is a big part of what makes the experience work. It allows the day to unfold at a relaxed pace, with plenty of opportunities for questions, conversations and the occasional detour when something interesting appears. And while I should probably point out that we were technically canoeing rather than kayaking, after 18 years I've learned not to be too precious about the distinction! 😄 Thanks again for joining me and for taking the time to share your experience. Cheers, Sean

Exceptional tour

We had a fantastic day with Sean, and can’t recommend this tour highly enough! Sean takes great care to provide an exceptional Margaret River experience, showing off the best of the region, it’s natural beauty, local food and wine.

Operator response

Thanks so much for the kind words. The goal has always been pretty simple: show people the bits of Margaret River that I love most and hopefully leave them with a deeper appreciation of the region than when they arrived. I'm delighted you enjoyed the mix of natural beauty, local food and wine. We're incredibly fortunate to have access to such amazing landscapes and producers, and I never take that for granted. Thanks again for spending the day with me. Cheers, Sean

Best way to see Margaret River

The best way to see the highlights of Margaret River with an expert guide who made everyone feel welcome and comfortable. Visited wineries, a short hike and canoeing. Learnt about the wine industry and indigenous history with great insights and general conversation. Recommend for couples and friends, especially.

Operator response

Thanks for the wonderful review. One of the things I enjoy most about these tours is bringing together people from different places and watching complete strangers become friends by the end of the day. So I'm pleased everyone felt comfortable and welcome. I'm also glad you enjoyed the mix of wine, canoeing, scenery and stories. Margaret River is a fascinating place once you start scratching beneath the surface and exploring the history, culture and environment that helped shape it. Thanks again for joining me and for recommending the tour. Cheers, Sean

Simply a MUST DO in Margaret River

Incredible day tour for Margaret River. Show the areas best bits all on a day! River, beach, sea, forest, land, local food, wine, views and we even saw dolphins out at sea. Small group ie max 5 and the host, Sean. If you are coming to Margaret River this is a MUST. Do not be put off by the canoeing, my 86 year old mum with a bad knee could do it, it’s so safe, relaxing and easy. We Loved it. Try to book it early on in your stay so you get an a great overview of the area.

Operator response

Thanks Frances. I absolutely loved hosting you both for the day! I reckon your review highlights one of the biggest misconceptions about the tour — people see "canoeing" and imagine some sort of wilderness survival expedition. The reality is it's probably the gentlest canoe trip on Earth. No rapids, no crocodiles and, most importantly, no getting wet! I was also thrilled we managed to throw dolphins into the mix. They don't always read the itinerary but occasionally they cooperate. Thanks again for the wonderful review and for encouraging people to do the tour early in their stay. That's actually great advice. Cheers, Sean

Good times! Good wine!

We had the best day! All the experiences were well thought out and our guide, Sean, was very helpful and informative. Our tour was so enjoyable and really highlighted what this beautiful part of the world has to offer.

Operator response

Thanks Susan. It was a pleasure showing you around this little corner of the world. I'm STOKED you enjoyed the variety of experiences throughout the day. Margaret River is one of those rare places where you can paddle a river, walk coastal cliffs, enjoy world-class wine and eat great local produce all in the same day. Thanks again for the kind words and for taking the time to leave a review. Cheers, Sean

Step outside the usual tourist route

What a great day we had with Sean. The Margaret River weather was at it's most contrary but from some moments of tranquility on the river, to a taste of the wild Cape to Cape trail, via a very special lunch among the barrels at Fraser Gallup winery we loved every minute. Sean is an easy going guide with a deep knowledge of, and connection to Country. If something outside of the normal tourist trail is for you, we highly recommend you seek out this tour and really get a taste of this beautiful area.

Operator response

Thanks Alison. The weather certainly gave us the full Margaret River experience that day! Four seasons before lunch and another four afterwards. I'm so pleased you embraced it all and enjoyed the contrast between the calm of the river, the wild coastline and the winery experience at Fraser Gallop Estate. I particularly appreciate your comments about getting beyond the normal tourist trail. That's really the heart of what I try to do — show people a side of Margaret River they might not discover on their own. Thanks again for the recommendation and for sharing the day with me. Cheers, Sean

Margaret River Tour

A highlight of our Margaret River visit! We had an absolutely fantastic day on the Margaret River Discovery Tour and couldn't fault a single thing. The tour hosted by Sean offered a perfect mix of experiences, from a peaceful canoe ride and stunning coastal cliff walk to exceptional wine tastings at the beautiful Fraser Gallop Winery. One of the highlights was enjoying a delicious lunch surrounded by wine barrels, which made for a truly unique and memorable setting. What really set this tour apart was the small group size. Travelling with just six people in a luxury 4WD made the experience feel intimate, relaxed and personalised. We never felt rushed and had plenty of opportunities to enjoy each location. The scenery, the wine, the food and the expert local knowledge all combined to create an absolute unforgettable day. Can't wait to see the photos Sean took throughout the tour. If you're visiting Margaret River and want to experience the very best the region has to offer, this tour is a must. Highly recommended and worth every cent.

Thanks Jodie. What a fantastic review. I genuinely appreciate the time you've taken to write it. I'm delighted you enjoyed the combination of experiences. One of the challenges when designing the tour was figuring out how to showcase the incredible diversity of Margaret River in a single day without making it feel rushed. Thankfully after eighteen years of tinkering, refining and occasional stubbornness, I think we've got the balance about right. The small group format is something I'm particularly passionate about. Six guests allows enough company for good conversation while still keeping the day personal, flexible and relaxed. The photos should hopefully be landing in your inbox shortly. My photography skills are generally much better than my canoeing jokes. Thanks again for joining me and for such a generous recommendation. Cheers, Sean

An absolute MUST!

What a bloody fantastic experience. Sean was absolutely wonderful and made us feel exceptionally comfortable every step of the way. He taught us a lot without making it feels like a classroom session. The whole day was such a relaxing, easy going and soul restorative experience. THANK YOU!

Operator response

Thank you! "What a bloody fantastic experience" is exactly the kind of review that puts a smile on my dial 😄 Thank you so much for the lovely words. I'm particularly pleased you mentioned feeling comfortable throughout the day. Whether it's hopping into a canoe, heading down a sandy 4WD track, or simply spending the day with a bunch of strangers, I know not everyone arrives feeling completely relaxed! I also loved your comment about learning things without it feeling like a classroom session. That's always the goal. Margaret River has some incredible stories to tell, but they tend to land a bit better over a paddle, a glass of wine, or a clifftop view than they do from behind a lectern. Most of all, I'm delighted the day felt soul-restorative. We all need a bit more of that in our lives. Thanks again for joining me for the adventure and for taking the time to write such a generous review. Cheers, Sean

Relaxed, peaceful and visually stunning

Oh my good golly gosh, what a bloody ripper day. Sean really makes you feel comfortable along the whole journey and explains everything very well. It's not a boring classroom education and the whole day was relaxing bliss.

Operator response

Hi Lisa, What a wonderful review. Thank you! I absolutely loved reading that the day made you fall in love with Margaret River. That's about the nicest compliment this little corner of the world could receive. I'm also really pleased the food allergy arrangements worked well. Everyone deserves to enjoy the lunch and wine experience without worrying about what's on the plate, so thanks for mentioning that. The coastline was certainly showing off that day too. Those cliffs have a habit of stealing the spotlight, no matter how many times I visit them. Thanks again for joining me and for taking the time to write such a thoughtful review. Cheers, Sean
