The Agafay Desert is Marrakech´s hidden surprise, a rocky desert of some 200 kilometres just a short drive from the city. In spring it explodes into life with wildflowers for just a few short weeks after the rains have passed its way. With a backdrop of the majestic High Atlas to the south adding to the vast panoramic vista, especially when it has its winter coat of snow, it is an exceptional landscape worth spending an evening. We propose a transfer from Marrakech with a pick up in a central location and a drive out into the Agafay to meet your four legged companions. A camel ride out into the sunset is a wonderful experience and this topped off with a private dinner under the stars will make for an evening to remember. We drive you back to Marrakech at the end of your trip.

We had a great couple’s trip on a custom six day trip in April into the Atlas Mountains and off to Erg Chegaga/Chigaga in and back from Marrakech. This isn’t something you can get from Viator or a vendor in the cities. We spent weeks ahead planning this out with Pathfinders who were always so helpful and accommodating. We were picked up from our Riad in Kech and had a blast with Youseff and Moustapha on some short hikes, dinner with Amazaigh families in their homes, dozens of historical sites and kasbahs, a rose cultivation tour, and wrapping it all up in a sea of sand at the edge of the world in the Sahara. It felt very safe, fun, and always on track. The only item I would have changed would have been to ask for more basic accommodations. Many of our overnights were in very European-esquire places that felt touristy and departed from the locale. Had we known this, all we would have had to do is ask for the change. We just didn’t know at all. They are very accommodating and were only trying to help make it comfortable for us. Price was 3500€ plus a tip and some uncovered lunches, a few low cost admissions, and of course the tourist shopping at a few stops. I imagine it would be cheaper per person with a larger party and if the accommodations were more modest and local if you were expecting to keep costs down. Best for small groups, families, and couples I would think.
