Itinerary
Our meeting Point is a five minute walk from Puerta del Sol at Plaza Isabel II, where one of our guides will be waiting with a "Native Spanish Tapas" sign or table, and get ready for an authentic Madrid Wine and Tapas Tour, along with a fun and dynamic bilingual guide explaining the past and present history of Madrid. We will be stopping at three traditional establishments for some of the best wines and tapas that Madrid has to offer.
We will enter Madrid's 1800´s "Time Square" with some very interesting anecdotes including why Spaniards eat 12 grapes the last twelve seconds of the year during New Year's Eve. Alongside an introduction of our current Borboun dynasty versus the precious Hapsburg dynasties.
1600's Madrid main square is a must see tourist attraction. We will then make our second food tapas stop at a local's favorite tavern at the perimeter of this amazing square for some amazing Spanish ham, chorizo, alongside a well balanced white Rueda wine whose grapes cultivation, date back to the 12th century.
Our first food tapas stop is at a quaint local favorites tavern for a young grapey and fruity Tempranillo Toledo red wine. This tabern has been operating since 1860 offering some of the best Croquettes in Madrid near Madrid's Puerta del Sol square; "Spain's Time Square". You will learn about the history of this square and other interesting facts such as the origin of the 12 grapes that Spaniards eat the last twelve seconds of the year.
You will have arrived to Madrid's oldest square dating from the 1500's. Get your camera ready, it is very picturesque, and romantic, in fact it's where marriage was proposed for centuries in Madrid, where we can appreciate three hundred years of different architecture just in this square.
We will be bordering Spain's Royal Palace and Cathedral, for some interesting anecdotes related to the Statues on the roof of the perimeter of the Palace and its gardens. Another must see of Madrid, being our last landmark before we sit down for a hearty traditional tapas lunch savoring our last two wines, a Rioja and Ribera, both red wines, but each with a distinct character.
We will be heading back near the meeting point where we'll stop at a local favorite sit-down traditional restaurant for an amazing tapas lunch with red wines; Rioja and Ribera. The assorment of tapas is quite diverse such as a Madrid paella, Spanish Omelette, chorizo stewed in white wine and a variety of "pinchos", a local's favorite to accompany wine. We will then be finishing off with traditional Castilian after-dinner liquor shots. Our guide will walk you back to the meeting point and give you recommendations you on where to go next and what to do during the remainder of your stay in Madrid.
We will be entering the oldest quarter of Madrid dating back to the 1500`s and a peak at the world's oldest standing restaurant called Botin. It is not easy to get a reservation there, but our guides sometimes manage to do so. This beautiful little square has some very entertaining historical facts, including an anecdote related to Dan Brown's Da Vinci Code novel.

Daniel is the best! We met sharp on time, and even though we were the only group joining the tour today, his enthusiasm was 110%! We were three vegetarians in a group of 4 and he accommodated our preferences quickly! The stories, the anecdotes and of course the food! And the WINE! Everything was spot on! He gives you a feeling of real Madrid, the Spanish culture and brings in a lively environment where you forget about the heat and look forward to the tour 🙂 We were also traveling with a stroller and it was not a problem at all! All the places Daniel took us to, were very hospitable. Even though we had done a Royal Palace Tour in the morning, he had 1-2 stories that we didn’t hear before. I would give this 10 stars if I could. For someone who thinks the time 12.30-3.30 would be hot, I think we didn’t feel it. We found shade always, took water breaks and discussed everything from culture, career and culinary craft! Don’t miss it! Pro Tip: Ask his about the salt and money gesture!
Fantastic tour, full of history and authentic tapas, drinks & a delicious lunch. Daniel was a wonderful guide. Highly recommend!

We enjoyed our afternoon with Daniel. The four wines were all great and the stops were unique. The last stop was nice and relaxing with so much food!
Daniel provided us with a wonderful afternoon walking the various neighborhoods while showing the architecture of different eras. He was extremely knowledgeable of the history and political past of Madrid. We went to 3 small tapas places where the food and wine were top notch. I highly recommend this tour.
