Itinerary
Head inside the Swiss Museum of Transport with your entrance ticket and explore at leisure. The museum charts the development of rail, air, space, road and water travel with hands-on exhibits, simulators and multimedia displays. Your ticket gives you access to its key exhibition halls and areas, filled with more than 3,000 displays, making for a fun day out for adults and kids. Visit the Aviation Hall to view historic aircraft and flying machines. The museum takes its exhibits to new heights with flight simulators that give you the rush of operating an airplane, helicopter, or hang glider. When it's time to get grounded, walk around the Rail Transport Hall to see steam locomotives and model railways, and try your hand at negotiating tunnels, signals and bridges in train simulators. Zoom over to the Road Transport Hall for the history of automobiles and to view 20 of the world’s most iconic cars. You can even turn into a crash-test dummy to experience a bruise-free collision in one interactive exhibit. Other attractions include the Navigation Hall with its fascinating seagoing displays; the i-factory covering information technology; and the Swissarena where you can walk across a one-of-a-kind aerial photo of Switzerland that takes up an entire room. Most people find two–three hours in the museum is sufficient, but your ticket lets you explore for as long as you like. For a supplement you can also visit the museum’s domed planetarium to witness its dazzling astronomical shows, and its Filmtheater to watch spectacular 3D and high-definition movies.

Watch out for the Bungee Trampoline at the exit! Staff alone to manage the 4 jumpers, harness too tight, resulting in a child in harness syndrome (suspended in the harness without touching the ground), while preparing another person… discomfort, no concern from the staff… not recommended… Otherwise, great museum for children…
Very exciting! I recommend a tour of the submarine and flying with a parachute using VR glasses.
We just came for the museum rather than the add on attractions. We arrived at 0945 and stayed till 1800 and didn't see everything. We could do with another day! The layout is basically energy production, trains, cars, aircraft and boats plus an art exhibition that we saw last year but didn't get to today. The exhibits are very well described and almost all have an English translation. The stand out exhibits for us were the giant model railway, going into the aircraft, the vertical car garage with robot transporter and the automaton on the top floor of the boat display. There are some excellent and informative interactive displays. We ate in the cafe and restaurant and found the food, cake and drinks to be very good. This really is an outstanding museum. Consider an annual ticket if you live in Lucerne or come regularly.
It's a shame that after paying 90 CHF with the heat that it is, the museum has no air conditioning and feels like a sauna... I do not recommend coming in the summer at all.
Tickets should be obtained online and not have to be picked up at the counter! Everything else was great and we had a lot of fun.
Excellent museum!. So much to cover so much to learn. It is all wonderful. Suitable for all ages. They have a fantastic F1 simulator , VR bike ride, even a mini carrousel . It was a great visit and we would go back again ! Food was of great quality , be it on the pricey side but all worth it
We reserved a wheelchair. However, since the chair brought was too small, a solution was immediately sought and also found, thank you very much! So my brother could enjoy his birthday trip thanks to you🤗!
Located 10 minutes by bus from Lucerne train station, this museum is the most visited in Switzerland. Plan the day. There are many very interesting animations but ask about the schedules. Very nice imax cinema but you have to pay extra. Very interesting museum hans erni included in the admission price. Very good cafeteria. Only downside: it's expensive.
"We had a great day at the Transportation Museum with my little one. There were really nice things to see, and even for a young child it was both interesting and fun. We recommend without hesitation!"
Very interesting and very well designed to involve children of all ages. Clear directions to destinations
