Itinerary
Blenheim Palace was built for John Churchill, the 1st Duke of Marlborough, by a grateful nation. This outstanding stately home is one of the largest in the UK and is considered of such importance that it was created a UNESCO World Heritage site in 1987. Famous for being the birthplace of Sir Winston Churchill, who was the grandson of the 7th Duke, Blenheim is the perfect place to visit if you are a lover of Churchill as not only was Winston born here, but the Dukes played a major part in Churchill's political career and personal life. Upon arrival at Blenheim, you will be guided around the palace by your guide who will help you with the palace's excellent audio guide and fill in extra information that isn't part of the audio tour. You will be able to experience both of the Churchill Tours at Blenheim and both the 'Upstairs' and 'Downstairs' Tours which will give you a better understanding of this amazing home. Finally, you will be able to wander the stunning grounds at your leisure.
This small local church is where Sir Winston Churchill was buried. Normally a figure of such national and historical importance would have been buried in one of the great national monuments such as Westminster Abbey or St Paul's Cathedral. Churchill, however, wanted to be buried with the rest of his family at Bladon. It is here you can see the graves of Sir Winston and his wife Lady Churchill and pay your respects to one of the giants of history. You will also have time to explore the stunning stained glass window that was commissioned as a memorial to Sir Winston on the 50th anniversary of his death before travelling back to London where you guide will drop you off at your accommodation or another central London location of your choosing.

We sent a note to the operator that we did not want to see the gardens and move quickly through things . Stated after tour wanted to stop somewhere for lunch . We got there at 10:30 and went right in but tour we had for upstairs they booked for 2 pm. We finish downstairs tour at noon and they asked to be take. Back to hotel as they booked second half late in day . Terribly run and not worth the 1300 price . Disgusted
Dear Janice Thank you for your comments. The tour that you had booked is a full day at Blenheim Palace including time in the state rooms, the gardens, the Churchill museum, and time to explore the upper rooms of the palace which are usually used by the Duke and his family. The tour is programmed so that clients can explore the staterooms, Churchill museum, and gardens before lunch, eat in one of the many restaurants and cafes in Blenheim, and then visit the private apartments later in the afternoon at 14:00 until 15:00. Clients usually then visit the burial site of Sir Winston Churchill before returning to London. In your review you mention that you finished the state rooms of the palace at 12:00, which is within keeping with our expected timings, but according to our guide, you did not wish to visit the gardens, or the Churchill Museum as part of the trip. Tickets to visit the upper apartments are sold in advance on a timed entry basis and 14:00 is the earliest time that we can book, as clients are usually still busy exploring the state rooms or gardens at the times of the earlier entry. As the restaurant you wanted to eat in at Blenheim was fully booked and you had additional time, due to your deciding not to visit the other attractions at Blenheim, our guide did offer to take you into Woodstock and then bring you back to the palace in time for the 14:00 entry to the private apartments. You refused this offer. Speaking to the driver and guide after your tour, the Guide informed us that you asked for the tour to conclude and be back in London by 15:00. Had you contacted us in advance, (you mention that you contacted us but we have no record of this either via email or on our phone system) we would have informed you is not possible due in part to the distance travelled from London, and the structure of the tour. The tour listing clearly states that it is a full day at Blenheim. It was your decision to return to London early, not to visit the gardens or the Churchill museum, or wait for the booked entry to the private apartments. Our guide attempted to offer you solutions and alternatives during your tour and you rejected these. Had you wanted to visit the other attractions at Blenheim you would have had a fuller day even if you wanted to ‘move quickly through things’.
Without a doubt one of the best tours I have ever taken. Our tour guide Dewi Evans was outstanding. Both personable and knowledgeable on the subject and London as a whole. I will certainly be using these tours again on my next visit to the Uk.
Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. We love hearing any feedback, and it's great that your trip to Blenheim was memorable. All the best Henry.
