was goonin the entire time 🥵🥵🥵
The odds weren’t in our favour here. There are doors of the same letter on multiple floors, so finding your entrance is potluck. (a member of staff explained it was an issue with the ticketing platform- something that sounds totally resolvable). The auditorium itself is an immersive in-the-round space that guarantees a passable view wherever you’re sat (my pic is from District 11, B38). Bear this in mind and don’t go splurging for the best seats, because… …as for the show…I’m sorry to say that its lead (not the understudy) is one of the worst performers I have ever seen. They’re incredibly one note, and that note is melodramatic. The outfits are underwhelming as is the staging; the blocks of seats moving being a redundant gimmick, almost as much as on-screen President Snow.
For me this show was just unintentionally hilarious. The random dance numbers as teenagers are being killed. The music. Katniss running up and down the stage like a headless chicken. The cast tried their best with what they were given, and it was entertaining. At times I was crying laughing just because of how absurd it all was. Theatre was nice and high tech, and I loved the moving seats, although I sadly wasn’t sitting on one.
