London Literary Private Walking Tour Of Bloomsbury

Description
In this original walking tour we will explore the beautiful world-famous squares of Bloomsbury. With its unmatched heritage of writers and big names in the London literary world from Charles Dickens to Virginia Woolf, Beatrix Potter to George Orwell, W.B. Yeats to Gandhi, Lenin and plenty more. It has a quiet cultural atmosphere that still resonates to this day and you might be inspired to write a best-seller yourself. Even if you don't know the writers, this is the part of town that everyone imagines London to be with tree lined streets, beautiful garden squares and black iron railings and so offers something for everyone. Another of our pioneering and original tours, lamely immitated by others!

This was a fabulous stroll through the area of London encompassing the haunts, history, and heritage of many great writers. Mike and Cindy were excellent guides. They infused the history with recitations of poetry and prose, enacted brief scenes between literary greats, and basically enchanted the group from start to finish. My favorite was the stop at the building where my favorite poet, W.B. Yeats, lived and worked.
I’m not sure what I expected when we signed up for this tour but it was very pleasant! We loved Kevin. He was very knowledgeable and clearly very passionate about all things history. We got to see many lesser known parts of London that we would not have seen on our own just like the description implied. This coupled with history, WWII information and general information about London, the culture, and the people was a jolly good time. The tour was slow and there was ample time for questions and small talk about what we were seeing or wanted. Definitely would recommend! Kevin is very well traveled in his own respect and we loved having him!!!
I'm so glad that you enjoyed the tour despite not quite knowing what you signed up for!! Kevin is just the best isn't he?! Thanks for such a nice review.
An informative and enjoyable walk around Bloomsbury learning about the famous and creative past inhabitants. Stephen was a knowledgeable and enthusiastic guide with a very easy manner and a relaxed way of delivering information and facts. Great fun as a late birthday treat. He even laid on the sunshine (well, possibly!)
Thanks so much for your lovely review. It was great meeting you and nice that the sunshine turned up for our big day! I'm really glad you had such a nice tour with me.
The communication about setting up the tour and meeting points was spot on. Kevin the guide was very friendly and knowledgeable. He is a local to London, and I really appreciated his personal perspective and story. I learned a lot about English history beyond a strict focus on the sights we were visiting. Spending the morning with him, and the depth of knowledge and anecdotes made me want to book other tours from the company!

This tour was the absolute highlight of our trip to London. Our large family of 6 spent 5 wonderful days touring around London and our time with Stephen was our favorite and most memorable. Stephen took us back in time down the beautiful, quiet streets where we explored houses, college areas, cobblestone streets, peaceful parks, lively pubs and various hot spots where the brightest minds lived and made their marks in time. Stephen is a brilliant guide and gave fascinating historical insights and interesting nuggets about every corner of our stroll. His knowledge of hidden gems, fascinating tales and historical facts left all of us feeling like we experienced a full course meal! Thank you Stephen for sharing pieces of London with us today that we can tuck in our hearts forever!

What an incredible tour! Stephen was incredibly thoughtful and enthusiastic during the entire 3-hour walk through Bloomsbury. We had the best time and learned more about some of our favorite authors. He’s also one of the easiest people to chat with! Highly recommend. We will definitely be back.

I'm so glad that you enjoyed my tour. It was lovely to meet you and show you a very deserted but beautiful Bloomsbury in mid-winter. Thank-you for your kind review.
The Bloomsbury Tour was the highlight of our visit to London! Kevin Pearlman, our tour guide, was more than one could hope for. His extensive knowledge of British history and sites where nineteenth and twentieth century authors lived is astounding. He is a great historian and a wonderful story-teller The streets and parks came alive for us through his knowledge; he guided us to many interesting sites, explaining the history of the architecture and flats, as well as the characters who lived in them. Based on this experience, we are looking foward to more tours when we return to London; this one was excellent and definitely worth doing if you love literature! Highly recommended.
