London Ghost Walking Tour: Discover Haunted Secrets at Night

Description
London is a city with over 2000 years of history, but when night falls, the streets reveal a darker side, full of horrible histories and paranormal activity you won't find on your average walking tour. You and a group of travellers will follow a local guide into the shadows to discover the haunted spots. Your guide will tell you dark history and chilling tales of ghostly monks, doomed prisoners, and mysterious apparitions that still haunt London’s landmarks. You'll uncover the secrets of Charterhouse Square, hear eerie whispers at Smithfield Market, and tread carefully through the haunted halls of St. Bartholomew’s. From the notorious Fleet to the murder on Blackfriars Bridge, every stop adds a new layer of spine-tingling suspense. We’ll finish at the infamous Clink Prison, where the spirits of the condemned still cling to the walls. Will we see a ghost? Maybe. But one thing’s for sure: you’ll never see London the same way again. Book your spot now, if you dare.

Itinerary
This former plague pit is one of the most eerie places in the city and is said to be haunted by vengeful spirits, including Black Death victims, ghostly monks, and even a headless Duke! Once you learn about its ghastly history, you won’t be surprised by the supernatural sightings.
This isn’t just a meat market; it’s a site of gruesome executions, ghostly apparitions, and eerie legends. From the tortured spirit of William Wallace to the phantom cries of Protestant martyrs, this historic square is steeped in chilling tales of death, and if you listen closely, you might just hear a scream–or two.
St. Bartholomew’s Hospital was once a medieval site for treating plague victims. You'll learn about the horrors of the medical malpractices that once took place here. Today, it's said to be haunted by ghostly doctors, patients, and a spectral child, but beware, if you see him, it could mean that death is just around the corner.
The city’s Central Criminal Court stands on the site of Newgate Prison and apparitions such as the vengeful “Black Dog” remind us of the injustices committed inside the prison walls.
This centuries-old pub above the holding cells of Newgate Prison is said to be the most haunted in London. Hear about the lingering souls of patrons who never quite finished their last drink. Here the beer is cold, but the ghosts are colder.
St. Bride's Church hides a dark history beneath its beauty. Containing crypts that housed thousands of skeletal remains from the Roman era to the 19th century, they’ve since been sealed due to numerous disturbing discoveries.
Home to a chilling story that inspired a musical we know and love, we'll wander on the very same street as the murderous barber whose hunger for human flesh made him a cut above the rest.
St. Paul's Cathedral is known not only for its grandeur but also for ghostly tales, including the Whistling Clergyman who haunts the All Souls' Chapel. This building has survived blitzes, and bombings so it's no wonder it's so haunted. Security staff have reported other unsettling experiences, such as hearing children's cries, organ music, and doors mysteriously opening in the night.
Nicknamed "The Wobbly Bridge," for its unsettling swaying motion, many believe the Millennium Bridge to be cursed. Visitors have reported ghostly experiences and phantom splashes, believing them to be the spirits of those who perished in the River Thames below.
This imposing bridge has a sinister past as the site of one of London’s more recent murder mysteries. True crime junkies will get their fix with the gruesome details of this Freemason conspiracy and cover-up.
When you think of Shakespeare, you don’t think “haunted,” but there have been many mysterious sightings at the Globe Theatre with reports of a mysterious figure in Elizabethan clothing watching rehearsals, phantom footsteps, and ghostly applause. Hear about these strange occurrences and how they’re tied to the Globe’s tragic history. It's here where one actor gave a final fiery performance and met a brutal end.
The Clink Prison, known for its brutal history of torture and death, is now a museum, but many believe the spirits of its tormented past still linger. Visitors often hear agonising screams, rattling chains, and report eerie encounters with a malevolent presence, believed to be the ghost of the cruel jailer, “The Gaoler.”
Just when you thought it couldn't get worse we'll finish the tour at the remnants of Winchester Palace, where hidden treasure comes at a cost and a curse. It’s here where you’ll discover the demonic past of this opulent palace and the truth about the most controversial bishop in London.

More history than ghost stories. We started with 20 people and ended with 12. Can’t be sure but may have been that it didn’t feel like a ghost tour at all. Storyteller was excellent with delivery but content wasn’t as expected.
Hi Christine, Thank you for taking the time to leave your feedback. We’re genuinely sorry to hear that the experience didn’t match what you were hoping for. We understand how disappointing it can feel when you’re expecting a ghost-focused tour and it leans more toward historical storytelling instead. Our aim is always to strike a balance between history and haunted legends, but we’re sorry that in your case it didn’t feel quite right for what you had in mind. We’re glad to hear the guide’s delivery was engaging, though we understand that content is just as important as presentation. Your comments will be shared with our team so we can better manage expectations and fine-tune how the tour is presented to future guests. We appreciate your honesty and hope we can offer you a more fitting experience in the future.
Our tour was on June 6 with Suraj. He was alright and knew a lot of stories, but it was not scary at all. I expected something different from a Ghost Walking tour. Maybe there would have been a different vibe if it wouldn't have been still light at 8pm. Our daughter lost interest at the 2nd stop already and myself at the 5th or 6th. I also did not like that there was not a single stop for a toilet break. The best part was the walk down the Thames riverbank where you have a beautiful view of all the lights on the skyscrapers and the bridges that reflect on the water.
Hi Norman, Thank you for sharing your experience, and we’re sorry to hear that the tour did not fully meet your expectations. We understand that you were hoping for a scarier atmosphere, and we regret that the timing and daylight conditions may have affected the overall mood of the experience. The intention is to create a more eerie storytelling walk through London’s haunted history, but we’re sorry it didn’t quite come across that way during your tour. We also appreciate your comments about the pacing and the lack of a restroom break. We understand how important comfort is during a walking tour, especially for families, and we will be passing this feedback to our team for review. That said, we’re glad you still enjoyed the riverside walk and the views along the Thames, which is certainly a highlight of the route. Thank you again for your honest feedback, and we hope we can offer you a more enjoyable experience in the future.
This was on Tuesday, June 2nd. The tour guide was a young female. Don't remember her name. Not common. She spoke so softly the entire time, even after asking her to speak louder. She stopped at noisy areas. Her knowledge of history was poor. She couldn't even answer a simple question and had not done her homework. The tour really had nothing to do with Ghost stories. We would pass a site without stopping to take photos, and she would discuss what had happened there. We had to backtrack to get photos. I have been on several walking tours in London, and this was not acceptable. We must have spent 20 Minutes walking without a worthwhile stop. Even stopping at the Prison Museum near Bourgh Market. Don't need her to point that out. I wish they would list the tour guides. This is one not to be repeated.
Hi Ellen, Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We’re really sorry to hear that parts of the tour felt physically demanding, especially with the steep steps and the intense heat on the day of your visit. We understand that exploring the Colosseum, Roman Forum, and Palatine Hill can be challenging terrain for some guests, and we appreciate you pointing this out. Your comments about the pace and level of detail are also very helpful, and we will share them with our team for review to see how we can better balance information with comfort during longer tours. We’re glad to hear that Aurora made a strong impression with her knowledge, even in such tough conditions. We’ll be sure to pass along your kind words to her. Thank you again for your honest feedback, and we hope to welcome you again in the future for a more comfortable experience.
Great tour, full of (gruesome) history of London told in an engaging way. Absolutely fantastic!
Thank you for your wonderful review! We’re so happy you enjoyed the mix of history and storytelling on the London ghost tour. We truly appreciate your kind words!
Besides being very informative, it was an interesting walk through parts of London. Our guide, Cathy, was a delightful storyteller and made all the stops come alive! I don’t think I will ever look at any old building quite the same again. I will always be wondering “what’s the story behind (or underneath) this?”
Thank you for your wonderful review, Amy! We’re so happy you enjoyed exploring London with Cathy and that her storytelling brought the city’s hidden history to life. We truly appreciate your kind words!
Absolutely fantastic tour. Such a variety of spooky stops and loved hearing the gritty, haunted history. Cathy was a fantastic guide. I loved the smaller group sizes too. Made it super easy to hear and stay engaged.
Thank you for your fantastic review! We’re so happy you enjoyed the spooky stories, haunted history, and intimate group atmosphere. We’ll be sure to pass your kind words on to Cathy. We truly appreciate your support! 😊
