London E-Bike Tour | Richmond Park Deer & Hidden Gems

Description
This is not your standard London bike tour. While most routes stick to crowded streets and predictable landmarks, this experience takes you on a completely different journey — blending riverside cycling, nature, history, and local culture into one seamless ride. We follow the Thames along quiet, hidden paths, passing through Battersea Park before continuing toward Putney and into the open landscapes of Richmond. Along the way, you’ll experience a side of London few visitors see — with scenic river views, local stories, and a relaxed pace throughout. A highlight of the ride is Richmond Park, once a royal hunting ground and now home to herds of wild deer that roam freely across its ancient landscape. Deer are frequently seen throughout the park, although as wild animals their location varies from day to day. With small group sizes and a carefully curated route, this is a more personal, immersive way to experience London beyond the crowds.

Itinerary
We begin our journey at the striking Battersea Power Station on the Thames, one of London’s most iconic landmarks. After a friendly welcome and safety briefing, we take a short ride around the redeveloped Power Station complex. Here you’ll hear the story of its transformation — from a coal-fired station powering much of London, to a cultural icon in music and film, and now a vibrant riverside destination. This first stop sets the scene, combining cycling with stories that bring London’s past and present to life before we head out along the river.
Next, we cycle into Battersea Park, one of London’s most beautiful green spaces along the Thames. Riding at an easy pace, we explore peaceful tree-lined paths, ornamental gardens, and lakes alive with wildlife. The park offers a quieter, scenic contrast to the bustle of the city, with plenty of photo opportunities along the riverside and within its landscaped grounds. It’s the perfect place to slow the pace, enjoy the fresh air, and experience a more relaxed side of London before continuing our journey towards Putney.
Leaving Battersea Park, we turn up the energy with carefully selected music playing through a portable speaker as we ride the lively stretch of the Thames Path towards Putney. This part of the journey brings us alongside the famous riverside rowing clubs, where you can often see crews out training on the water — a true slice of London sporting life. Across the river you’ll spot Fulham Football Club’s stadium, while the riverside pubs and boathouses of Putney add to the vibrant atmosphere. We pause at Putney Bridge to enjoy the views before continuing our scenic route deeper into southwest London.
From Putney we continue into Richmond Park, London's largest Royal Park and the highlight of the ride. Spanning 2,500 acres, it feels like a countryside escape within the city. We cycle at a relaxed pace through open grasslands and quiet woodland trails, taking in different areas of the park along the way. Keep an eye out for the famous herds of red and fallow deer that roam freely, and depending on the route that day, we may pause by one of the park's tranquil lakes or make our way up to King Henry's Mound — a protected viewpoint with far-reaching views across London and beyond. With around 75–90 minutes inside the park, there's plenty of time to enjoy the natural beauty and capture memorable moments before we loop back round and make our way back towards Battersea.
To complete the journey, we cycle back the way we came — retracing the Thames Path through Putney and Battersea Park, taking in the riverside views from a fresh perspective as the afternoon light shifts. This final stretch gives us time to unwind and reflect on the day's ride before arriving back at Battersea Power Station, our starting point. It's a relaxed, scenic way to finish the tour, with the Thames as your constant companion the whole way home.

I came from Santander, Spain to visit family and my aunt booked this tour. it turned out to be the best day of my trip. I never imagined London could be so green and full of surprises. We started at Battersea Power Station, then cycled through Battersea Park where James told us about the old funfair and even a zoo where elephants once escaped! We stopped at the Peace Pagoda overlooking the Thames before riding past Chelsea Harbour and seeing a helicopter land at London’s busiest heliport. The highlight was Richmond Park — getting so close to wild stags and deer, with views stretching all the way to St Paul’s Cathedral. In Richmond town I tried fish and chips for the first time and explored the old castle before finishing the day with a scenic Uber Thames Clipper ride back along the river. James was an excellent guide, mixing history, nature and local stories with plenty of time to enjoy the views. I’d highly recommend this to anyone — it’s a side of London most people never get to see. – Abuish, 18, Santander, Spain
Thank you, Abuish. It was a pleasure showing you a different side of London during your visit from Santander. I'm delighted you enjoyed discovering Battersea Park, the Peace Pagoda, Richmond Park and its incredible deer. One of my favourite parts of guiding is helping guests experience places that many visitors never get to see, and it sounds like you made the most of the day, including your first fish and chips and Thames Clipper ride. Thank you for choosing the tour and for taking the time to leave such a wonderful review. Safe travels and I hope to welcome you back to London again in the future.
