Itinerary
Journey through the street that lives “in our ears and in our hearts.” See the barbershop with the photographs, the shelter in the middle of the roundabout, and the old bank — every lyric brought to life as you explore the real Penny Lane.
Stand by the iconic red gates that inspired John Lennon’s 1967 classic. Learn why this place meant so much to him and enjoy a 20-minute break to explore the site, visit the café, or simply soak in the atmosphere.
Visit the spot often called the most important meeting in music history — where a teenage Paul McCartney met John Lennon for the first time in 1957. Discover how that single moment sparked a partnership that changed the world.
See the real-life tombstone that may have inspired one of The Beatles’ most haunting songs. It sits in the same churchyard where John once sang as a choir boy, adding a beautiful layer of poignancy to the visit.
Stop for photographs outside Mendips, the modest suburban house where John Lennon grew up and where much of his early life unfolded. Learn how this quiet corner of Liverpool shaped his childhood, his music, and his partnership with Paul. A perfect chance to capture one of the most iconic Beatles landmarks.

Someone gave me a tip do this tour. And it was worth it, but due to the great guide we had. He made the tour!! He was passionate, enthousiastic and had a great knowledge of The Beatles. Also about questions on subjects which were not in the tour (for example the murder on John Lennon). I think the experience can even be bether: our car was a regular taxi, I would prefer Beatles look and feel. The guide had no Beatles clothing and I would give my customers some merchandise, for example a Beatles scarf.
What an absolutely amazing trip, I don't really know where to start with my review, my husband who i first went out with in1981 when i was 16 he 17 was a huge Beatle fan, he was devastated about John lennon being killed the year before and equally gutted and saddened when George Harrison also passed and always said he was born in the wrong era, was his brain still working i sincerely think he'd have been there at the top as an amazing tour guide... He absolutely loved/loves all 4 beatles and always knew all you could know about them. One of the things he always wanted to do was visit Liverpool and do everything a Beatle fan could do, well, sadly at the age of 54 in 2018 my hubby had memory issues, last year he was diagnosed with Alzheimers and as a family we know he is on borrowed time, therefore we are trying to help him do some of the things you know you have forever to do but have never got round to doing... We have had the most amazing tour and Jim my hubby is still saying how amazing the man who did the tour with us was just fantastic, that man was called john Joyce, all I can say is thank you for bringing to life four lads known to us all as John, Paul, George & Ringo, your enthusiasm, knowledge and passion brought 4 people to life and the stories and places you spoke to us and showed us made them leap to life through your knowledge and imagination, anyone thinking of doing this do not hesitate, I'm not an avid beatle fan but yesterday has made me see what i previously failed to, from where lyrics originated from, to young lads and their mischievousness' to serious music making, John Joyce you are a legend, thankyou for an informative, fun and enjoyable tour, thank you even more for helping to make a difficult life at present for Jim something very special and completing a bucket list wish...
"Geoff is absolutely fantastic! 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 Hands down the best cab driver and tour guide for a Beatles tour in all of Liverpool. He is a treasure trove of knowledge, sharing fascinating stories and details about the Fab Four that you won’t find in guidebooks. Geoff went above and beyond to make our tour unforgettable—he was incredibly accommodating, tailoring the experience to our preferences, and always made sure we were comfortable. His friendly demeanor and genuine passion for the Beatles made the day so enjoyable. When at Strawberry fields, Geoff was known by all the staff and as an added lucky surprise John Lennons sister was visiting the shop. Geoff new her and he had a quick chat. Geoff dropped us off at the museum near the Cavern. I had a bag of purchases that I left in the shop at Strawberry fields. Geoff called us but we were sion to board our train back to London. Somehow he got the bag drove across town and by this time we had just boarded the train. My husband jumped off the train and Geoff met him at the gates to exchange the bag. 🥰🥰🥰I just hope he sees this review and know how much we thank him. I will never, ever forget the coolest cabby tour guide Geoff! If you’re in Liverpool and want an amazing, informative, and fun Beatles experience, Geoff is the one to call. Highly recommended!"
Hi, Thanks for your review, we are so glad you enjoyed it. Geoff has seen this review and would like to thank you and pass on his best wishes.
Our guide John Joyce took us on a most amazing Beatles early years tour & we were absolutely blown away by the details, stories & opportunity to visit places like Penny lane & Strawberry fields for a very special birthday! John is like an encyclopaedia so even if you think you know the Beatles you’ll know much more after this trip. Wonderful company to deal with, so helpful for organising our trip. Thank you!! Miriam, Michael & Ita.
Steve Hughes was a driver and a guide spectacular! Very professional, easy to understand every needed. Recommended! Probably the best tour in liverpool.
Thank you so much for your review! Very kind. We're very happy to hear you've had a great time.
Did not want to be in a bus for a cruise excursion. Booked this tour from 9am-3pm and was able to see many Beatles and historic Liverpool sites. We had Peter for the day and he was great at explaining everything and answering our questions. Got us back to the ship with plenty of time to spare.
Thank you for the positive review. We're glad you enjoyed the tour.
Took the 5-hour tour of The Beatles’ childhood homes with Dave. Best tour I’ve ever taken! His knowledge of the Fab Four is unsurpassed. He took me places that weren’t on tour — off the Beatles’ beaten path. Thanks again, Dave.
Thank you for the positive review, we're glad you enjoyed it!
Excellent morning with Phil. He arrived early and off w went for a morning filled with sights of memories, Beatles music and lots of stories. Even as a huge Beatles fan I still learned new information ❤️ highly recommend
We had the best time. Jay was amazing. Very knowledgeable and great guide. The tour is outstanding. We did this for my wife Becky’s birthday and she loved the tour. She is a huge Beatles fan and was so impressed. Highly recommend. We did the 3 hour tour. Next time we are back, we will do the 5 hour tour. Thank you, Jeff
We made a special trip to Liverpool to take this tour and it was worth every penny. Phil was a wonderful guide and told us great stories of the Beatles and gave us a wonderful sense of Liverpool history- had no idea what big role Liverpool played in the US Civil War -plus we went to neighborhoods that very few tourists see. Liverpool is lovely and the Fab Four Taxi tour is the perfect way to understand where the Beatles come from and what and where made them the superstars they became.
