Itinerary
This beautiful monastery is in Belém, the most western neighbourbood of Lisbon, and is home to where our famous navigators, such as Vasco da Gama set off in search of new lands. Here, we will visit the monastery from the outside and also go and taste the famous Belém custard tarts!
Another area in Belém is this famous Tower built in the 16th century, which was originally used as a defence fort against enemy invasions.
The Padrão dos Descubrimentos or the Discovery Monument symbolizes the location where the portuguese explorers set off from and has the statues of the most significant people related to our explorations.
The Cristo Rei or Jesus statue is another symbol of the city. To get there we will cross the Tejo river along the 25 of April Bridge. By the statue you can enjoy a fantastic view overlooking the entire city of Lisbon
The city centre of Lisbon is know as the "Baixa". Here we can explore the centre and discover the stories where each square has a tale to be told.
Up on one of the many hills in Lisbon, Chiado is another fancy area, with beautiful boutiques and some classic cafés.
Here we will pass through the oldest neighbourhood in Lisbon, known as Alfama, which is also where the traditional Fado music was born. We will make some short stops at some beautiful view points.

My husband and I’s first trip to Lisbon for a few days. Upon a referral from friends in Arizona USA, we fortunately connected and booked with the one and only Bernardo Rufino. He is simply the best. Son of a Portuguese Diplomat, raised and educated in many place, his heart and soul is Portugal thru and thru. His English is perfection, his depth of knowledge of history, culture, art, restaurants, politics(if you ask) are on point and exactly what my husband and I hoped. Our tour booking with Bernardo was from 9am till 5 but we were having such a pleasurable time, we didn’t say our goodbye till just past 6! He is fun, charming, and a joyful conversationalist. He gets you to where you want to go. He suggests the top iconic locations and sights, but is flexible and will audible with ease; like when we caught a flea market pop up and shopped unexpectedly. “Of Course, no problem!” I have to say it’s worth whatever is the cost to spend the most enjoyable day with Bernardo in Lisbon. Obrigada Bernardino, Caio Kristina and Ricardo Baker🙋🏻♀️
With Bernardo as our guide we experienced two very good days: in Lisbon and in Sintra. We saw everything we wanted to see. He has proven to be a very knowledgeable tour guide. It can address all the priorities that tourists prefer. He speaks very understandably and clearly. As a human being he is very accommodating and friendly. You can rely on him and trust him.
We had 2 wonderful days in Lisbon and Sintra with Bernardo. He picked us up with his van at the hotel and drove us everywhere. He was extremely friendly and accommodating and has responded to all our wishes and needs. He is also a very competent and educated guide who has loosened up the explanations with stories, anecdotes and legends. 2 completely successful days in which we were able to experience so much in a pleasant way. 100% recommendation!
