Itinerary
Travel from Hamburg to Lübeck with your local host by train, arriving in one of northern Germany’s best-preserved cities. Known as the former capital of the Hanseatic League, Lübeck offers a rich blend of history, architecture, and local culture. Here are some highlights your host may include during your experience:
See the Holstentor, Lübeck’s iconic medieval gate, built in 1464 and once part of the city’s fortifications. Its distinctive twin towers and red-brick Gothic design remain a lasting symbol of Lübeck’s trading power and independence.
Visit Lübeck Cathedral, founded in 1173 and one of the city’s oldest landmarks. Its towering brick structure and historic interior reflect the religious and architectural importance of Lübeck throughout the Middle Ages.
Discover the Salzspeicher, a row of historic salt warehouses along the river. These buildings once stored valuable salt that helped drive Lübeck’s wealth during the Hanseatic era, highlighting the city’s role in European trade networks.
Explore the Schiffergesellschaft, once a meeting place for ship captains and now one of Lübeck’s most historic dining halls. Its preserved interior reflects the traditions and stories of the city’s maritime past.

Deniz is such a great guide; he had all the facts at his fingers points. The pacing was well planned and he was very attentive to my special interests.
We’re delighted to hear that Deniz’s knowledge, pacing, and attentiveness made the experience special for you. We hope to welcome you again in the future.
We had the best day exploring Lubeck! Deniz met us in Hamburg and took us to the train station where we boarded the train to Lubeck. He already had our tickets purchased, guided us through the busy platform, and the day began smoothly. The rest of the day was just as easy! He showed us Lubeck’s highlights and some hidden surprises. We ate at a delicious restaurant for lunch and ended the day making the train back to Hamburg without a hitch. He took the stress out of our day and added so much historical knowledge. Highly recommend!

Deniz was a great guide and this was a perfect day trip from Hamburg. The architecture, history, and pace of the town were a nice contrast to Hamburg.
It’s great to know the architecture, history, and pace of the town provided a refreshing contrast to Hamburg. Thank you for your lovely feedback! We hope to welcome you on another adventure soon!
Deniz showed up on time at the hotel and we started our wonderful journey to Lubeck at my pace and in no hurry. The transfer by train was an an enjoyable experience both there and back to Hamburg. Deniz asked questions of what I was interested in seeing and doing and tailored the day to my interests. He shared his knowledge of Lubeck during our walking tour and we took a very nice break to eat some cake at a very famous marzipan cafe which was excellent. For an older guy with arthritis in both knees I found the tour itself was perfect. Deniz was did an outstanding job taking me around the city for which I was very grateful.
Thanks for the awesome review! It's really great to hear that Deniz has done it again, keeping you interested with his knowledge while tailoring your day to what you wanted! That cake at the marzipan café sounds like quite a treat!

Great time with our guide Dave! Dave took great care of us and had so many out of the way places he took us to! We had a wonderful lunch and a great coffee stop! He put so much thought into our trip.
Deniz was our guide and he was fantastic! Very informative and personable. We enjoyed rooftop views, fish for lunch and cakes at the marzipan Cafe. Great day trip from Hamburg.
Our trip with guide Dave Earl was was a very pleasant experience. He communicated with us before the trip and met us a few minutes early. His communication skills were superb and his explanations were laced with humor. Somehow, he even cleared the clouds and gave us a picturesque day. We saw everything we asked for and more.
Don't linger in the streets with souvenir shops. the real, more authentic Lübeck is further away. walk towards Hansemuseum. for those who have an eye for beautiful old houses and Hanse architecture , worth it because by train easy to reach from Hamburg. the Hansemuseum is really worth
Thank you for your insightful review! We’re delighted that you enjoyed discovering Lübeck’s authentic charm and its stunning Hanseatic architecture.
