Kutná Hora, Bone Church and Folk Village Small Group Day Tour

Description
Discover Kutná Hora the comfortable way — without the rushing typical of most tours. Spend a full day exploring in a small group at a relaxed, unhurried pace. After convenient hotel pickup in Prague, we begin at a rarely visited folk village museum. We peek into traditional huts and learn about Czech crafts and traditions. After lunch, we explore Kutná Hora, once one of Europe’s richest towns. Visit two cathedrals, stroll cobblestone lanes and see the Royal Mint and Palace. We also stop at viewpoints or meet artisans like a winemaker, ceramicist or jeweler. We end the day at the Bone Church (Sedlec Ossuary), visiting in the late afternoon when it is usually quieter, before returning to Prague. Please note: The folk museum is closed on Mondays and in winter (Nov, Dec 31–Mar 15). On these dates, we visit alternatives such as Český Šternberk Castle or the Folk Costume Museum. Still deciding? Itinerary
Your guide will take you through a peaceful countryside museum filled with timbered cottages, barns, and historic interiors that capture centuries of Czech village life. Step inside homes, peek into an old schoolroom or stable, and discover folk traditions — some of which are still alive today. Please note: The open-air museum is closed on Mondays and seasonally in November and from December 31 to March 15. During these dates, we’ll visit another charming site that fits the spirit of the tour.
Visit one of Europe’s most remarkable Gothic churches, built by miners in honor of their patron saint. With soaring vaults, colorful frescoes, and dramatic views over the former silver town, this UNESCO landmark offers both artistic beauty and historical depth.
Once a royal town rich in silver, Kutná Hora rivaled Prague in its heyday. Today, its charm lives on in pastel facades, quiet courtyards, and winding alleys. After a short guided stroll, you’ll have time to explore: browse local shops, pop into a museum(s), enjoy the views — or relax with a glass of local wine.
Step into one of the oldest cathedrals in Bohemia, a serene baroque-gothic masterpiece that blends spiritual depth with striking architecture. Often overlooked by visitors, this UNESCO site offers a peaceful and uncrowded experience — and a moment of quiet reflection before the city unfolds.
Enter one of Europe’s most haunting and unforgettable chapels, decorated with the bones of over 40,000 people. Beneath the surface lies a powerful reminder of history, mortality, and medieval artistry — all in a surprisingly peaceful setting. Please note: Photography is strictly prohibited inside the ossuary. As a place of rest for thousands, we ask all visitors to treat it with respect.

We had an amazing day on this tour. We chose to do a private tour as a family of four with two teenagers. Ondrej was great at interacting with them and keeping them interested. The whole day was excellent from the moment we were picked up at our hotel until the moment we were dropped back. I would highly recommend this tour.
We actually had two guides, Jana, and the owner of the business, Andre. It was fun having two guides though they split up the task. We were a group of 8 and we were transported via a very comfortable Peugeot van. They provided water and snacks and offered to stop for any bathroom breaks. There was a photographer who came along to film some media content who seemed to always be in the way when my husband was trying to take pictures. The lunch was adequate. We had more than enough free time to shop and certainly appreciated that the guides pointed out vendors who sold authentic Czech wares.
Creatively crafted custom itinerary that perfectly aligned with our interests. Ondrej is such a pleasant and informative guide to take a tour with. He is committed to giving his guests the best experience possible. He schedules stops based on your interests, giving you the time you would want at any given place. During the Kutna Hora trip, instead of waiting for the mine visit, he detoured us into an impromptu stop at a mint museum and we got a personal presentation on how silver coins were minted. So special!
We had a great day traveling to Kutná Hora with Ondrej. Provided good information, great conversation and memorable experiences.
The best guide who was extremely knowledgeable and spent the right amount of time at each location. Convenient pick up and drop off at the hotel. Our guide selected a fabulous outdoor spot for lunch with great food and brought us for gelato and chocolate after.
Our guide, Ondřej, was fabulous. From the get-go, he was very friendly and made us feel welcomed. He was patient and responsive to all our pre trip logistics questions. He enthusiastically answered all of our questions about Kutna Hora, folks village, the cathedrals and Czech culture/history in general. He was very knowledgeable and fluent in English. We learned more from Ondřej than any of our guides on previous tours. We appreciated how relaxed and personalized the tour was with a small surprise at the end and time to peruse local shops. Wish we could have had the opportunity to use his services for our other Prague tours! We would recommend this tour to anyone!
Ondřej was an outstanding tour guide. He was incredibly polite, friendly, and always willing to help, making the entire experience enjoyable from start to finish. His knowledge of the area was extensive and fascinating, and he presented everything in a way that was engaging and easy to follow. The tour included a few wonderful surprises, and Ondřej clearly knows all the right spots to make the experience truly memorable. This was a 10/10 experience, and I would highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Kutná Hora. Thank you, Ondřej, for an unforgettable day!
Oh my gosh. If you are looking for a tour guide in the Czech Republic stop looking and book Czech Out Tours now before somebody else steals the spot you want. Everything about our tour was perfect from beginning to end. The tour was incredibly well planned and everything fit together perfectly. I can recommend Czech Out Tours for Kunta Hora hands down a perfect tour. We also booked a private tour that fit our needs perfectly. I have some mobility issues and great care was taken to make sure my limitations didn’t interfere with our journey. I am leaving with great memories, tons of cool pictures and a new guide friend that I will call on again the next time I am in this neck of the woods.
We thoroughly enjoyed our tour to Kutna Hora. Jana was our tour guide, she was very friendly & knowledgeable. The day was very relaxing & a lot of fun. Thank you Jana for a wonderful day. We highly recommend this tour.
Worth every dime! Jana was the best tour guide we could have asked for. She was adventurous, friendly, and incredibly knowledgeable. We had a wonderful day, learned so much, and thoroughly enjoyed the entire experience. She never rushed us through any exhibits and maintained a relaxed, laid-back pace throughout the tour. We saw so many beautiful places and gained a deeper appreciation for the area. Highly recommended!
