Itinerary
This wonderful place is located in the Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti region, Georgia. The small city of Martvili is just half an hour away from Kutaisi. Martvili district is truly one of the gorgeous places in Georgia – combining a unique natural environment. You will be shocked by brilliant scenery, sensational waterfalls, and a boat trip in the river with deep green color. You can take a boat with a boatman, and he will take you on an unforgettable journey in the canyon. The walls of the canyons are covered with moss. Martvili Canyon is a fantastic place to adventure with family, friends, and co-workers.
Kumistavi owes a famous legend about Amirani for the sonorous naming of the “Cave of Prometheus.” The legend says that Amirani, like Prometheus, angered the Gods and was punished brutally. The eagle tormented him, eating his liver; however, unlike the Greek giant, cruel Gods were chained. Amirani, not to the rock, but inside a massive cave. Khvamli Mountain is visible from Prometheus Cave, where the legend says Prometheus was chained. Spectacular views of stalactites, stalagmites, petrified waterfalls, underground rivers, and cave lakes. The cave has colorful lights, ranging from orange-red to pink and blue.

This day trip to Martvili Canyon and Prometheus Cave was one of the absolute highlights of my trip to Georgia. The scenery was simply breathtaking. The views at Martvili Canyon were otherworldly, and Prometheus Cave was just as spectacular. Every stop on the tour was worth it. A special thank you to our tour guide, Mariam. She is one of the sweetest and kindest people I’ve ever met. She made sure everyone was having a wonderful time, created such a warm and friendly atmosphere, and made sure nobody felt left out of the group. Her positive energy and genuine care made the experience even more memorable. I couldn’t recommend this tour more. If you’re visiting Georgia, don’t miss it. It will definitely be one of the most unforgettable experiences of your trip.
Ana is the most amazing tour guide. She is professional, kind, enthusiastic, and accommodating. Truly enjoyed her insights of the places and knowledge she shared. She even managed a sick person in our tour very professionally without impacting the tour itself. Everything went as planned. We did Kutaisi tour including the canyon, cave and also a swim in the majestic waterfall. Everything went very smooth. Price is great. And I highly recommend this provider and Ana.
Good tour, though canyons were wonderful and breathtaking, but for caves, it's not really interesting, but our tour guide mariam made our day really
Our guide was Mariam with the red hair and she was exceptional, explained everything very well.
Amazing Amazing tour guide, comfortable transport and really great vibes. Ana handled us with energy and enthusiasm the entire 10 hours of the tour. had an amazing time visiting the canyons and caves and she and her driver made the transport very seamless and easy going
We had a wonderful time in this trip. Everything from the beginning was done efficiently our Tourguide Miss Mariam was professional and very enthusiastic when it comes to Georgian history, she insured that everyone in the group had an excellent trip to the canyons and Prometheus caves. A big shout out to Mariam thank you for such a wonderful experience in Georgia, ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
It was an amazing experience, specially Marian our Tour Guide she is very professional and helpful to everyone👏 The whole trip was excellent and the driver also is very careful when he is driving. This is memorable experience. ❤️ Highly recommended Mariam Tourguide.
Great day out with great views and the guide was so friendly and welcoming
An unforgettable day! The canyons and caves were absolutely stunning, but what really made the experience special was our guide. She was incredibly knowledgeable, funny, and made everyone feel welcome from the very beginning. By the end of the tour, it felt like we had made friends for life. If you’re thinking about booking this trip, do it—you won’t regret it!
Ana was an amazing host to have for the day. Very jovial, and excited to share something about every place that we went too. The drive is long, but the views are nice. Unfortunately the weather did not allow us to go on a boat ride, but being by the waterfall felt special. My true highlight was visiting Katusi and getting to see the old capital of the Colchis, where the golden fleece from greek mythology was said to originate from
