Great tour with Sor (in perfect English)! Exciting exchanges on the real life of Cambodians behind the tourist facade. The landscapes are beautiful and the village floating interesting even before the rainy season. To see!
If you want a meaningful, powerful cultural experience this tour is for you. Do not miss it. It was spectacular! My guide was so knowledgeable and taught me a lot about the villagers’ life. Take this tour!
I'm very pleased with my choice of booking to visit the Tonle Sap lake and floating village. Born in the village, Sarin was an outstanding guide. Humble and considerate, also with excellent English language. I enjoyed chatting about many aspects of life in Cambodia and of course the floating village which he understands so well. I was lucky to visit just after the end of rainy season, so the water was high and we took a boat to reach the village. Many beautiful photo opportunities. Sarin also introduced me to a variety of tasty local snacks. Bamboo sticky rice was my favourite. I believe (for me) a better option than joining a large group. Yes, a bit more expensive but in my opinion worth it for probably once a lifetime visit. Recommended
When we booked the tour we did not expect to have a guide who was originally from the village. Sarin really personalised the experience such that it was not just another sightseeing tour. We not only learnt about the area but we also met the people and got a deeper understanding their way of life. We did not expect to come across a young artist and purchase one of her first handmade flowers. Sarin also took us for some of the best local snacks and made our last day of our trip a memorable experience.
Hi Suzanne. Thank you so much for the lovely review. Yes, our guides are actually from the Tonle Sap lake communities so it can be a much more intimate experience. We are glad you felt you learned and connected with residents and the community at large. Thank you so much for joining us!
After the asphalt, a dirt road goes into the village. On both sides houses on stilts, while on the road are put to dry skewered in a surgical way thousands of small fish. Children play with the ashes and earth of the streets. This lake is the beating heart of Cambodia as well as representing a unique ecosystem, also identified by UNESCO as a first level ecological environment. Beautiful children who try to sell you something and make an endless pain, in a context where you can not help it. It should not be a tourist destination, as an attraction, but be destined to humanitarian routes where those who arrive are prepared and can contribute even with little. The poor and difficult lives of those who live there. Taking a boat ride puts the priorities right. Great sadness and awareness of being lucky
Thank you so much for sharing your experience of Kompong Khleang. We are glad to hear you had a good time and felt it was worth visiting The Tonle Sap, a UNESCO heritage site. We send our best from Siem Reap and please take care!
What a way of life ! The village is authentic and the people are very welcoming. We enjoyed going through the mangrove and understand more about Cambodia.
Thank you so much for reviewing your experience. We are really glad you enjoyed seeing the mangroves at Kompong Phluk. We strive to provide a fun and educational experience and glad you felt that way. Thank you so much for booking your tour with us!
Outstanding tour by Sarin. The tour felt very authentic and you will see daily life uninhibited. Sarin was great host and we learned he is from this village so he was able to share more than what you would learn in an average tour. My teenage son also enjoyed the tour.
Thank you so much for booking your tour with The Tonle Sap Experience. I'm glad you had a good experience with Sarin, one of our guides who was born in Kompong Khleang. He has a unique experience and understanding of life in the village and enjoys sharing his hometown. I'm glad you son liked it as well...we love hosting families. Thank you so much and have a great day!
We had an amazing time with our guide, everything was very well organized and the tour was very interesting. The entire experience including food testing was perfect. We totally recommend this tour.
Hi Loreda. Thank you so much for joining us on your visit of Kompong Khleang. I'm glad our local guides showed you what life is like in the village. It's also great you enjoyed the unique food on the way to the village like sticky rice and palm sugar donuts which are hard to find fresh in the town. Thank you again and sending our best regards!
Our tour with Saro was absolutely brilliant, I can’t recommend the experience highly enough. He made our 7yr old daughter’s day/holiday by letting her drive the boat back after visiting the lake! The tour company appear to be investing money back into the local community which is brilliant to see (e.g helping fund a computer room for the local school).
Thank you so much for taking time to review your experience of Kompong Khleang. I'm glad Saro did a great job! He is from Kompong Khleang and has a lot of insight. Yes, we make an effort to contribute to develop in Kompong Khleang via pre-primary programming and computer labs. If interested you are welcome to visit one of the sites. Thank you again for taking time to review us and wishing you all the best!
We had the best tour ever. Thankyou Paron for an informative and fun day. We were able to visit his home village and see first hand life in a floating g village.
Thank you for booking a private tour with The Tonle Sap Experience. We are so glad to hear you had a good time with Paren visiting his homeland and learing about "life on the lake". We appreciate you taking the time to share your experience with others as well!
