Susannah amazingly knowledgeable and managed the group beautifully. Loved the tour.
Thank you for your words – it was a pleasure to share the City's Jewish history with you!
Excellent informative tour. A good introduction to the Jewish history of the area. The guide Susannah was excellent, making me aware of things I did not know such as the synagogue where Benjamin Disraeli attended before he converted to Anglicanism and Disraeli’s house. The site of the old Jewish cemetery was a revelation. I thought the Kindertransport memorial at Liverpool Street Station was an appropriate end to the tour.

Despite having lived and worked in and around the City for many years, this Square Mile Secrets tour was enlightening, with just the right balance, suited to any level of knowledge. Gently paced, at times it felt like I was walking in the footsteps of past generations. With so many stories and remarkable individuals of note, this tour has sparked my interest in finding out more. So glad I booked this tour, which has opened up a hidden, but important chapter in the City of London’s history to me. Highly recommend!

Our tour guide Susannah managed our expectations well as she described that there was not a lot visually left of the Jewish history in the old section of London but the tour exceeded those set expectations! She did a great job of weaving the story together of what happened where and showing us whatever remnants there were of the Jewish history.

A fascinating history of Jews in London beginning with William the Conqueror. Lots of good info presented in an entertaining way. Thx Ian for a meaningful and wonderful afternoon .
The Jewish Square Mile walking tour around the City of London is an excellent experience. Hugely informative and engaging, it reveals a history of Jewish life at the heart of London dating back to the 11th century. Starting with the cemetery located beneath the Barbican Estate - and recently celebrated with the Jewish Square Mile exhibition - it looks at Jewish political and work life as well as key neighbourhoods within the 'Square Mile', many not generally associated with the Jewish Community. It also outlines a series of migrations including the important history which led to the creation of Bevis Marks Synagogue, a place with the most enduring Jewish community in the UK. The tour ends at the Kindertransport memorial in Hope Square at Liverpool Street Station marking a place of refuge for many children arriving in the UK just before the outbreak of war. Highly recommended.

Incredibly informative friendly and well organized tour. Answered all questions and engaged with us on a personal level. Incredible information as place based connection to the early Jewish communities of London and with a message that these histories need to be better understood and acknowledged.
