An Ashurkhana is a place of mourning for Shia Muslims on Ashura, the 10th day of Muharram. Established by Muhammed Quli Qutb Shah in 1594. As a result, the city has numerous of Ashurkhanas, after completing the Charminar to mark the new city of Hyderabad in 1591. The brilliantly colored tile-mosaic decoration was completed under Abdullah Qutb Shah in 1611. After the Mughal conquest of Hyderabad, in a display of Sunni sectarianism, Aurangzeb used it as a horse stable for the Mughal cavalry.

Pathar Gatti was built during the reign of the last Nizam of Hyderabad State, Mir Osman Ali Khan in 1911. As the building was constructed in stone or Pathar, it was named Pathargatti. It was designed by the renowned engineer Vishveshwaraiah in a distinctive Osmanian architecture style.

Char Kaman - meaning four gates. After the completion of Charminar, at about 75m feet to its north, four lofty arches known as Char Kaman were built in 1592 by the founder along with Gulzar Houz. The names of the four arches are Charminar Kaman, Machli Kaman, Kali Kaman and Sher-e-Batil-Ki-Kaman. The arches are fifty feet high, and demarcate an open square, in front of which a Qutb Shahi palace once existed

Gulzar Houz was built 350 feet equidistant from the Char Kaman surrounding to it. Initially it was 12 sided then it turned octagonal and today it looks almost circular. It was an octagonal shaped water reservoir made for quenching the thirst of the soldiers, traders and travelers.

It later became a venue for public events and military parades during the Asaf Jahi dynasty, and was first used for military parades in 1853. The stadium was officially renamed in 1967 after former Indian Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri.

The Telangana Assembly building's history is tied to a heritage structure originally built in 1905 for the 40th birthday of the 6th Nizam, Mir Mahboob Ali Khan. Initially functioning as the Mahabubiya Town Hall, it was designed in a fusion of Persian and Rajasthani styles and completed in 1913. After India's independence, it was designated as the State Legislative Assembly, and a new, adjoining building was constructed in 1985 to accommodate additional offices.

Night walk in old city with food taste

Booked this food tour along with friends to experience the old city night markets and bazaars suggested by the local colleagues, the tour was more than we imagined. We enjoyed the walk around the historical places with food taste around the Charminar with a few small outlets by tasting the delicious dishes if the old city culture. Thanks to Mr Raj our guide for taking us around the historical sites very patiently answering all the questions. We highly recommend this tour anyone look for old city experience in the nights.

We friends gather for Evening Food Walk

A small gathering evening at Charminar with friends booked the food taste tour, which ends up a memorable and beautiful views of the old city with delicious food around the bazaars. At the end of the tour we weren't able to complete the food which we ordered. Thanks to Mr Baskar for taking with all small outlets to know the tastes of the delicious. Great food & culture tour in Hydrabad city center

Exploring Hyderabat

Matta took us on a great tour trough the highlights of Hyderabat. He is a very enthousiast tourguide with an enormous knowlegde. He took us to Charminar, we tried local cookies and tea, then chowmahalla palace and he took us to galconda fort. It was an amazing experience and i couldn't think about any better tourguide then Matta. A truly good reccomondation for exploring this city with a lot of history.
