Al-Azhar Mosque romanized: al-Jāmiʿ al-ʾAzhar, lit. 'The Resplendent Congregational Mosque'), known simply in Egypt as al-Azhar, is an Egyptian mosque in Islamic Cairo. Al-Mu'izz li-Din Allah of the Fatimid dynasty commissioned its construction for the newly established capital city in 970. Its name is usually thought to derive from az-Zahrāʾ (meaning "the shining one"), a title given to Fatimah. It was the first mosque established in Cairo
The Mosque-Madrassa of Sultan Hassan is a monumental mosque and madrassa located in the historic district of Cairo, Egypt. It was built between 1356 and 1363 during the Bahri Mamluk period, commissioned by Sultan an-Nasir Hasan. The mosque was considered remarkable for its massive size and innovative architectural components, and is still considered one of the most impressive historic monuments in Cairo today
The Citadel of Cairo or Citadel of Saladin is a medieval Islamic-era fortification in Cairo, Egypt, built by Salah ad-Din (Saladin) and further developed by subsequent Egyptian rulers. It was the seat of government in Egypt and the residence of its rulers for nearly 700 years from the 13th to the 19th centuries. Its location on a promontory of the Mokattam hills near the center of Cairo commands a strategic position overlooking the city and dominating its skyline. At the time of its construction, it was among the most impressive and ambitious military fortification projects of its time.[1] It is now a preserved historic site, including mosques and museums.
The Mosque of Amr ibn al-As (Arabic: جامع عمرو بن العاص), also called the Mosque of Amr, was originally built in 641–642 AD, as the center of the newly founded capital of Egypt, Fustat. The original structure was the first mosque ever built in Egypt and the whole of Africa.[1] Through the twentieth century, it was the fourth largest mosque in the Islamic world.[2] The location for the mosque was the site of the tent of the commander of the Muslim army, general Amr ibn al-As. One corner of the mosque contains the tomb of his son, 'Abd Allah ibn 'Amr ibn al-'As. Due to extensive reconstruction over the centuries nothing of the original building remains, but the rebuilt Mosque is a prominent landmark and can be seen in what today is known as Old Cairo. It is an active mosque with a devout congregation, and when prayers are not taking place, it is also open to visitors and tourists.
Mohamed Ali Mosque that has been considered one of the most beautful mosque in Cairo it also know as the Alabaster Mosque because its outer walls has been Covered by Alabaster Stone
Then Followed by another big famous Mosque Which is Al-Rifa’i Mosque The building is located opposite the Mosque-Madrassa of Sultan Hassan, which dates from around 1361, and was architecturally conceived as a complement to the older structure. This was part of a vast campaign by the 19th century rulers of Egypt to both associate themselves with the perceived glory of earlier periods in Egypt‘s Islamic history and modernize the city.

My advice Step one Book it Step two Enjoy It was a great experience We visited all 5 mosques on my list Our guide Salua and driver were excellent We had an amazing experience with top notch service We couldn’t be happier with this experience Thank you!!
We had the pleasure of touring Cairo with Sayed Maemoud, and it was truly one of the highlights of our trip. He guided us through the Egyptian Museum and several historical mosques with such depth of knowledge and passion that we walked away feeling enriched and inspired. What made the experience even more special was the way he connected with my son- by the end of the day, they were like old friends. It’s not easy to find a guide who can balance historical expertise with genuine warmth, but Sayed did just that. We had a fantastic time and would absolutely recommend him to anyone wanting to experience the heart of Egypt through the eyes of someone who clearly loves and understands its history.
Very different experience to visiting everything to do with pyramids and ancient Egypt. A totally different era with just as much history to experience
I was really excited for this tour, our first time in Cairo. Unfortunately we didn't enjoy our guide. He seemed to be talking from a script instead of talking to us. It didn't appear that he was enjoying himself, rushing us at times and seemed forced to take photos. Almost like he was annoyed. We ended the tour early, only visiting 2 of the 6 mosques.
This was a great tour … guide ( sayed Mahmoud) was on time , spoke excellent English , very accommodating , and very knowledgeable about the sites , driver (Mahabad Taya) was very proffesional.. I highly recommend this tour .

Youssef was a wonderful tour guide. We loved all the temples that we visited along with two churches and a synagogue, because we had the time, and they were close by. Youssef was extremely knowledgeable and we learned a lot about the faiths, different from ours, and about the history of each of the places we visited. He even helped me find a couple of items on my shopping list. I highly recommend this tour!
This tour was fantastic, the guide was excellent and hand over a lot very interesting information about history of Egypt
What a wonderful morning I had touring the various mosques around Cairo. It was a truly beautiful, spiritual, and calming tour and I greatly appreciated the opportunity to tour inside and outside some of the mosques in downtown Cairo. My guide, Mahmoud Afifi, was simply terrific. he was prompt, courteous, and super knowledgeable. I learned a great deal about each mosque and Islam, too. Mahmoud even explained and demonstrated the rituals of prayer and history associated with the mosques, and it was quite beautiful. In addition, Mahmoud is a great photographer--and you can see how good he is from the photos attached to my review. I highly recommend this tour to anybody visiting Egypt for the first time to gain greater insight into the art, architecture, and Islam.
