Herculaneum Ruins Private Tour with Skip the Line Tickets and Local Guide

“Listen to me”, Lello is an excellent tour guide and spent his life studying Herculaneum’s culture & city. A wonderful knowledgeable tour covering so much in two hours which was a perfect amount of time in the ruins. We hiked to top of Pompeii for beautiful views in morning then spent afternoon in Herculaneum with Lello.

In October of 2021 my wife, grandson and I toured Pompeii with Lello. He is not only knowledgeable, passionate and an amazing guide, we could tell he was very highly respected by other guides as well. When planning our trip to Ecolano Scavi, I contacted Lello hoping he would take us on a tour. Let me tell you something: The time we spent with Lello in Herculaneum absolutely MADE our trip to Italy. We did no other tours, no other activities that could measure up to that. In fact, I can say it would be worth the trip to Italy to take a tour with Lello! He is so passionate about it, you can tell he really, really loves Herculaneum! We felt that he really took the time to dive deep, explaining the difference between Pompeii and Herculaneum, the people who lived and died here, what the city was like, the art, architecture, tools and treasures they had. I booked our tour guide for Herculaneum the day before our visit. We decided to go there and not Pompeii because I read that Herculaneum is better preserved and it is smaller. We spent two and a half hours walking through the site with our tour guide. Our guide is an archeologist and he was very knowledgeable. We thoroughly enjoyed learning about the Vesuvius eruption and the Roman history encapsulated at this spot.

Had the great fortune to be guided by Lello himself through Pompeii. Lello is an OUTSTANDING guide and educator - he’s an archaeologist whose passion for Pompeii really shone through in every moment of the time we spent with him. Pompeii absolutely came alive as Lello led us to imagine ourselves as people living in that era. We were able to appreciate every architectural and engineering detail, and I was absolutely blown away by how every material was chosen so carefully, and how every structure was designed so thoughtfully to serve its purpose. Lello has the most wonderful and cheeky sense of humor, and was also ever so kind to every member of our lovely group. I am now a huge fan of his. Every moment of this was so rich and joyful. Thank you for teaching us so much, Lello. If only we had you around to explain every city to us.

We wanted a small group tour to avoid being herded around in a big group. Rossana was our guide and she showed us around Herculaneum with one other couple. She was excellent - warm and friendly and very knowledgeable. We got a great insight into what occurred and how everything unfolded, and during the visit Rossana pointed out many fascinating little points of interest. We really felt that we got a lot more out of visiting with Rossana than if we had just wandered around ourselves with a guide book, which just would have covered the basics without all the interesting stories added in. We'd highly recommend a guided visit to Herculaneum with Rossana. It's a great site and well worth visiting in addition to Pompei. It's a smaller site and things are much better preserved so you get to see beautiful frescos and other original aspects of the buildings.

I highly recommend this tour. The guide was excellent. She was knowledgeable, enthusiastic, witty and just down right charming. She really brought both sites to life for us. I have been on many tours with many different tour companies and I must compliment you on your quick response and excellent communication. I always felt we were in good hands which proved to be the case.
