Herculaneum Private Tour with an Archaeologist

Description
Be guided by an Archaeologist to discover the ancient Roman town of Herculaneum destroyed by the 79 AD eruption of Mount Vesuvius. Herculaneum was the best holiday destination for the Roman aristocracy, a small chest full of miracles as Romans stated. In its private residences and public buildings were found marble decorations, wall paintings, mosaic floors as well as objects implemented in the everyday life. Also called 'the sister of Pompeii', this city shows you some better preserved findings like wooden doors and exquisite paintings. With an Archaeologist leading you through the site sharing his knowledge and telling you interesting anecdotes, you'll get the feeling to be walking in a still living town!

Rosa was an excellent guide and the private tour was brilliant. She was extremely knowledgeable and made it so interesting.
Our visit to Herculaneum was hugely enhanced by Luciano's knowledgeable, insightful and witty interpretation. Our family group of six had widely different levels of prior knowledge but we all felt we gained greatly and everyone felt included. Despite his protestations to the contrary, his English was excellent and he had no issues communicating the intricacies of current archaeological thinking on the events of AD79 or handling our questions. His trusty folder of illustrations, plans, maps and other resources were used to help explain what we were seeing on the ground. We booked direct on his website and our booking was quickly followed up with friendly pre-trip communication. On the day there was clear communication and we met up outside the ticket office without any problems. Clearly booking someone's time for a solid three hours comes at a price but we all felt it was money well spent to benefit from his knowledge and sheer enthusiasm.
Our guide was Roberta. She was wonderful and made our experience great. I would highly recommend a professional quide such as her. Her knowledge and attention to detail made the experience totally enjoyable.
Very informative, great guide, all we could wish for. 2 hours and a lot of new historical details and knowledge.
Extremely interesting, The tour was laid out with particular areas to visit and you feel and see so much over the 2 hours with Francesco.
The tour was very enlightening to the events as they unfolded from earthquakes to the volcano, and how Herculean event was different to Pompeii. Further, the tour gave us insight to how the city functioned two thousand years ago.
Very good experience with our guide Dania who has excellent knowledge of herculaneum. She was very good advice and did not look at the watch. very friendly guide
Throughout our small group tour Luciano provided us with such clear explanations about Herculaneum and why the site is so well preserved. He brought to light some tiny details that told the story of society at Herculaneum prior to the volcanic eruptions. We are not normally that interested in archaeology however this tour is so insightful we would recommend to everyone. Thank you Luciano, this tour was very special and not to be missed.
What a gem! Herculaneum is not to be missed if you want to see a well preserved city over 2000 years old. Luciano was a very knowledgeable and interesting tour guide/archaeologist and we highly recommend this tour.
Thank you so much!
Luciano was a fabulous guide! He provided a tailored and accessible tour for dad and I (73 and 39 years old). We learned much...including hidden gems.
