Cruise from the open waters of the Hardangerfjord into a narrow and dramatic fjord arm surrounded by steep mountains, waterfalls, and quiet, untouched scenery far from the main tourist routes. Along the way, your local skipper shares stories about the landscape, fjord life, and the people who once lived here. You’ll also pass the historic hamlet of Botnen, a remote settlement that was only accessible by boat. With high-speed thrills, close-up waterfall moments, and a strong sense of place, this tour combines adventure, nature, and local history in one unforgettable fjord experience.

The Fyksesund bridge opened as the longest suspension bridge in northern Europe in the year of 1937.
Botnen - today a relocated community with only inhabitant, and one of the most authentic and worthwhile cultural landscapes in Hardanger, as it was in the late 1800s. There was a viable community here in this roadless hamlet only accesible boat!

The Fyksesund RIB safari from Øystese was a fantastic experience – an absolute highlight on the trip to Hardanger! We were a group of 25 who were picked up directly at Hardangerfjord Hotell, which made the logistics simple and seamless. We were equipped with water and windproof suits as well as good glasses, as there was a little rain in the air. The trip took place with two boats and offered a perfect combination of speed, excitement and nature experiences. The guides were very skilled and local, with impressive knowledge of both the history of the area and the life in Hardanger today. They shared engaging stories along the way, which really lifted the experience. We made several beautiful stops along the route – including at impressive waterfalls and small, roadless village communities that gave a unique insight into life along the fjord. The nature is simply spectacular, and the experience of getting close to it from the RIB boat is quite special. This is highly recommended – a perfect combination of action, nature and local culture. We would love to do it again!

Nice guide. He did his best to show us nice bits and to make it as exciting as possible by catching speed and waves. Our whole family enjoyed it. Beautiful fjord.

Great tour with guide explaining the most important things, on the Hardangerfjord and to the end of a narrow side fjord. Passing waterfalls, remote individual houses and villages surrounded by high mountains. Even a few high speed minutes with tight curves are not missing - just for fun. RIB for 10 people, weatherproof jumpsuit, life jacket, glasses and hood are provided, the latter may be remembered. A super nice trip worth every minute. Start is 15 minutes before the start time of the trip at the reception of the Hardangerfjord Hotel in Oystese

This really was an exceptional experience - one of the best things I have done. On the one hand, the breathtaking and unique scenery, with close-up views of waterfalls plunging hundreds of feet into into the fjord. On the other hand the sheer exhilaration of travelling at speed on the RIB. Our guide was also very informative about the history and demographics of Fyskesund. My eight-year-old son loved every minute of it, as did I.

Absolutely brilliant experience the guide/skipper ( I am sorry I forgot your name) was so informative and you could tell he loved his job. The Hardangerfjord is beautiful so peaceful would definitely come back and do another RIB maybe the longer one. Came by bus from bergen to Oystese which took about 1hr 45mins but the journey was beautiful, the time went so quick and a lovely way to see Norway and only £10 return. The first bus that arrived at Bergen bus station was full so they put another one on which arrived 10 mis later but made the time up to Oystese.
