Itinerary
Join us for this 3-hour long food tour across the heart of Nordic cuisine in the amazing St Pauli district in Hamburg. You will discover the city and its gastronomy with the help of our Local Expert and enjoy an itinerant full meal in at least 4 stops. All the food and drinks here described are included! Please, bear in mind that the tastings here described may change according to the season and the availabilities of our partners.
St Pauli Piers are the heart of this neighbourhood situated on the waterfront. Built in 1839 as a steamship terminal, this place is nowadays a 205-meter-long terminal building where you will find not only ships, but also restaurants, cafes and bars. That's why we'll start here and we can't start a tour in Germany with a refreshing glass of traditional beer, served with a freshly baked bretzel. The perfect appetizer to begin with!
Hamburg has historically been a city that founded its wealth on trading, so markets were considered a main feature of the city. Nowadays, the historic Fish Market is still full of life and nearby you will find a charming restaurant to eat a classic from Northern Germany and, especially, Hamburg. Labskaus is made from corned beef, mashed potatoes, and beetroot, which gives a distinctive pink shade to this dish. You will never eat something similar elsewhere!
Let's continue with a staple of Nordic German cuisine: the fish sandwich. Hamburg is a portual city and fish is one of the main ingredients of its cuisine. You will try it in a delicious restaurant, beloved by locals, in the center of the district, where you will find a lot of nightlife alternatives as well!
Let's have a delicious Currywurst, a classic in Germany. It consists of grilled pork sausage, cut into pieces and served with a spiced tomato sauce and a sprinkle of curry. This dish is loved by both locals and tourists, making it perfect for a quick snack while exploring the city.
To finish your culinary journey, indulge in a sweet local dessert: the Franzbrötchen! A typical dessert with butter, sugar and cinnamon. Alternatively, have a slice of a delicious apple pie.

Lord of good and interesting food and sights. We'll paced and am easy walk. The beer was great as well
Our guide, Henning, is excellent. He shared very interesting insights into the history, cultures and traditions of Hamburg. We had some craft beers, amazing breads, and traditional seaport foods and learned about Hamburg architecture. We toured the tunnel under the Elbe and rode its historic horse and buggy elevator. He also told us about how they have adapted so well to the regular flooding. The Beatles stops were an added bonus. What a great city, great food and fun loving people. I highly recommend this tour for all visiting this amazing city.
Guide was very knowledgeable, energetic, and just a nice guy. A lot of the tour was of the red light District and music scene. Great for my wife and I but if you don't want to know about the seeder side, don't do this tour. We didn't like all of the food which was fine for us. We wanted to try what they eat in Hamburg, not American food.
Very good guide, very knowledgeable of the area, excellent English too, too much food but wide variety, got us to parts of town we would not have gone
Our tour guide Zack was a delight. We enjoyed the walking seeing the different areas in Hamburg and the different foods they eat.
So much fun! Pablo was the perfect guide. We saw parts of Hamburg we wouldn’t otherwise have seen, ate great food and had a really good time. We went as a couple but it would be equally good as a group or on your own. 100% recommend. Thanks Pablo (and Zac) for a fabulous few hours.
Our guide Hennimg was excellent . He showed us the red district and Beatles history in Hamburg . Foods however could do better choices .
Beyond the dishes discovered, it is a deep tour of the city by a local. Looks like a visit with a friend who shows us his favorite spots. A big thank you to Henning.
What an incredible experience from start to finish! Henning was an incredible guide who went above and beyond to show us the food, drink, history and culture of Hamburg, particularly the St Pauli district. He even gave us his contact details so that we could get further help and support during our stay in Hamburg if we needed it. If you want to know more about this area, you simply cannot do better! We arrived as a tour party, and left as friends. A fabulous afternoon, highly recommended.
Henry is a fun kind of tour guide. We enjoyed the history of Hamburg and it’s food culture through his tour of the old city. The food tasting places he brought us is a must for first time guest in Hamburg. Quite delicious to our taste, and then some.
