Description

We begin this wildlife tour by heading north along the western boundary of the National Elk Refuge to Grand Teton National Park. Here we will travel along the southern park roads watching for wildlife and stopping frequently for photo-ops. The guides at Jackson Hole Wildlife Safaris will make every effort to showcase as many highlights as possible, and will structure the day around making your experience a memorable one. They will take current road conditions, weather, seasonality, and your personal interests into consideration as they move through the park.

Stunning experience

We saw a huge elk, lots of bisons, and groups of deer. The massive elk was the highlight of the day! I was pleasantly surprised to see so many animals because I know it’s less likely in the summer. We also saw incredible scenery, the Tetons are exquisite. Our tour guide knew everything about the area, and provided a wealth of information and interesting stories.

Our guide, Benj, was very good! He did his very best to find us as much wildlife as he could. We saw an Elk, bison, and a few other things. He was very knowledgeable about animals and life in Wyoming.

“Earlier in the day we would have seen . . .”

We booked the 6:30am half-day wildlife safari in April for our late July trip. In mid- June, this company sent a note changing the pickup time to 7:00am because of Moose-Wilson Road construction. We were disappointed because we know the best time to observe wildlife is at dawn & dusk. But what can you do if road construction will not allow an early start? We were in the hotel lobby at 6:30am and a Jackson Hole Wildlife Safari van pulled up & the guide was looking for his customers. We were confused because our tour was delayed because of supposed road construction, yet the same company was picking up guests from our hotel for the exact same tour at 6:30am, our originally scheduled pickup time. The guide could not explain it, but confirmed our tour at 7:00 am with Jeff. When Jeff arrived at 7:00am he couldn’t explain it either. On our tour, we saw a moose from a distance, lots of common birds, pronghorn from a very far distance, the very end of elk crossing a meadow from a very far distance, and badgers digging in the dirt. We spent so much time watching the badgers by the time we actually entered Grand Tetons National Park and went to the area where a grizzly had been spotted earlier in the day, there was no sign of any bears. Jeff said several times that earlier in the day is when you would see [fill in the name of an animal]. Except we booked for a 6:30am tour and got this later tour instead. There were several other tour companies that were picking up guests for wild life safaris at 6:00am and even earlier, so earlier starts were possible on this day - and we booked more than three months in advance. We know it takes some luck to see wildlife, but the earlier start would have made it more likely. If we were to do this tour again, we would choose a different tour company with an earlier start time that the tour company would actually honor. Oh, and we never saw any road construction on our half-day tour. This experience just felt like a very confusing, disappointing and dishonest way to treat customers.

Incredible tour!

Wow- what an amazing experience. Jordan knew exactly where to look, what spots to hit and had so much knowledge to share with us. We saw black bear, elk, pronghorns and tons of bison. Not only that, but he also took some photos for us that turned out absolutely amazing. I am so glad our family landed on his tour. I would recommend requesting Jordan- 10/10!

Wonderful tour with Becky

We did the PM safari tour of Teton National Park. Becky was our tour guide and she was AMAZING! She did everything in her power to make sure we saw as much wildlife as possible. She is so knowledgeable about the history of the park, the wildlife, the flowers, etc. I could listen to her talk for hours! My wife and I had the best time.
