Itinerary
Located just 10km (6mi) south of the Kenya capital city of Nairobi, the park is Kenya's oldest (1946) and one of its smallest, but sightings of lions and hyenas are regular. Other animals likely to be spotted include leopards, elands, impala, Masai giraffes, gazelles, zebras, Tanzanian cheetahs, Cape buffaloes, baboons, eastern black rhinos, Coke's hartebeest, hippopotami, ostriches, vultures and water-bucks. Unlike many other national parks, the setting here features many walking trails from which to choose. There is a guided walking trail to the hippo pool to view these immense creatures and possibly crocodile as well.
The SWT Nursery, located inside Nairobi National Park is where a baby elephant orphan's journey begins — a journey that will culminate, many years down the line, in their reintegration back into the wild. The public visit takes place every day, except 25th December, from 11am to 12 noon. During this time, the team there will be delighted to join you for an unforgettable hour with the Nursery herd. Funds from your visit help support the rescue and rehabilitation of the orphaned elephants in their care.

We booked this tour the night before, extremely last minute. The owner, Dennis was extremely communicative, upfront and accommodating to us throughout the entire booking process. We cannot thank him enough for scoring us next day tickets to Sheldrick which we would have otherwise had to miss out on due to our poor planning! Our guide Paul picked us up promptly in the morning and we headed out for one of my favorite days ever, that I'll never forget. Paul had a great personality and was super knowledgeable about the animals. My favorite thing about him was that he made sure we got to see the animals -- he was in constant contact on the radio for the most up to date info for animal sightings, and then quickly and safely got to the next area for animal sightings. We saw soooo many incredible things thanks to Paul. It remains my first ever (and BEST!) safari after spending a week through out Kenya. Would 100000% re-book and recommend them!
We initially booked this tour with Viator the day before and was surprised to see that we could get into the elephant orphanage (it normally takes two days notice). About an hour after booking, Denis from the tour provider, Bushtop Kenya Safaris, contacted me. He said that due to the lateness of our booking (our fault), he could not get us into the orphanage and suggested we cancel with viator and book just the national park with his company. The main reason we booked the tour was to visit the orphanage. When we canceled with viator, they canceled our tour but Viator refused to give us our money back because we canceled. Denis had contacted viator and explained all of this to them on our behalf with no resolution. Denis somehow managed to arrange three tickets for us to the orphanage. He did not need to do this nor did we expect such effort, and it was amazing that he went above and beyond. The next morning, Henry, our driver, picked us up and we had a personal driver for the entire morning through the national park and then onto the orphanage. Needless to say, Denis came through for us and Henry was a great driver and guide. I can highly recommend Bushtop Kenya Safaris.
It was a great experience dealing with Bushtop Kenya Safaris. From the booking stage when tour manager Denis came up with a well-planned programme meeting all my requests and facilitated at each stage; to the game rides themselves where James (the driver) managed to get me into the elephant orphanage and to find all the animals I wanted to see: I saw 5 lions on 1 day, which is very rare. James was also helpful at all stages and it was pleasure talking with him as he told many interesting facts about the animals and Kenya. Definitely recommend this tour provider!
My safari experience in Kenya was beyond my imagination! It was home in the wild and worth the money and time I spent on it. I requested a quote from Bushtop Safaris and from my very first contact, Denis was extremely helpful and communicated professionally. He shared with us all the information and proposals necessary to propose our trip to our preference and budget via email with an unmatched treatment. They conformed to all our requests and requirements and proposed a dream trip, which we would also carry out on private tours throughout the trip. We had both great tent and lodge as accommodations well equipped and the meals were delicious. Definitely, one of our highlights of our trip was our guide Tony, who made our whole trip more than memorable. He has amazing experience, knows so much not only about the animals but also about the country & culture. He also seems to know everyone everywhere and everyone knows him. Easy going, extremely professional, always in a good mood and very punctual. Not only does he have great personality, but also knows every single path in the parks by soul and can easily spot animals from a distance. I almost thought he had a super power when he noticed a leopard hiding on a tree from 1 mile away. Thank you sooo much, Tony! Look no further- Bushtop Kenya Safaris and their team tops it all!
Spotting the BIG TWO during our game drive and also the giraffes, zebras, antelope, etc . We saw lions and buffalos! We were unlucky since we didn't see leopard, rhino and elephants. We booked with Bushtop Safaris who sent us the itinerary immediately after payment. Our tour guide, Joseph picked us at the agreed time. He engaged us throughout the whole trip, educating us on the history of the park. During the game drive, he educated us about all the animals he spotted. From the giraffes, zebras, impalas, gazelles, different bird species, etc. For anyone visiting Nairobi National Park, try to be there early in the morning to get a chance to see as many animals as possible and book with a credible tour company to get value for your money!
1. the guy at the office (Dennis) gave me a wrong quote but he didnt admit it. I heard Ksh 10,000 and took a note, but when I paid he said he had told me its Ksh 13,000 and asked me if I had recorded our original conversation to proof I was right. 2. a driver originally allocated to us didn't call me back at all unless I took action. he ended up cut the communication in the evening of the day before our tour. 3. there was no drinking water provided in the car despite their ad says it is included. when I complained this to Dennis, he said that was because plastic bottles are banned at the national parks. yikes, I know that restriction was enforced long time back before they made that ad for June 2020. 4. after I sent Ksh 10,000 we discussed and agreed at Ksh 12,000. But as I got 2 additional friends to join, I OFFERED to pay Ksh 1,000 but this was before the frustrated communication with the driver and found out no water in the car. so I refused to pay Ksh 1,000, Denniss was so annoying to calling and asked me what option we had. actually I didnt have option rather than paying Ksh 1000 as he didnt understand my frustration with the driver and how much time I wasted for him. the guys just needs money but don't care customers satisfaction. better find other safari agent to avoid any trouble.
The early pick up from home was an amazing. We made it early enough to sight a lion before he went out of sight, and a couple of rhinos. Happened to also see a serval which is very rare to see. The car was perfect, the children enjoyed completely. The driver was great too and his knowledge of the animals and where to find then was astounding. I'll definitely be doing another game drive with Bushtop. Notable animals we saw: Lion, Rhino, Buffalo, Hartebeest, Serval, Crocodile, Maasai Giraffe, Thompson Gazelle, Waterbuck, Zebra... and more
The early pick up from destination was an amazing trip through the streets of Nairobi and the drop off.
We were on a business trip to our Kenyan office in Nairobi and just a day before our return trip with my two colleagues Powell and Stewart aka 'Rocky', we decided to visit the Nairobi National Park, which is just a stone throw away from the city... call it a park in the city. We booked the tour quite easily via WhatsApp with Denis whom was very helpful and timely in communication. We were picked up at 6:00am from our apartment by Duncan, our guide and by half past 6 we were exactly at the entrance. He was very knowledgeable and gave us valuable insights of the park alongside showing us a lot of wild animals – two black rhinos, a pride of lions, buffaloes, zebras, eland, serval cat, eland....name them. His friendly demeanor and enthusiasm rubs off on you and made our trip very enjoyable. You cannot afford to miss this amazing tour whilst Nairobi.... A great experience!! 👌
