Description

A guided walk, for a maximum of six people, between 2.5 - 3 Hrs long, 12-15,000 steps circa 4-5 miles long, listening to the guide on Audio devices to interesting facts, colourful characters, history and anecdotes on the way. Clifton, a sleepy village in 1700, developed into the ‘Mayfair’ of Bristol. Walk the suspension bridge, view the dramatic ‘Avon Gorge’, Historic Buildings, Grand Terraces, Crescents & Squares, see the Harbour, Banksy’s, University, Museum, that statue, ending at the Cathedral and Centre. Join your guide, who having moved to Bristol in 1980, attended Bristol Poly (UWE), I have lived, played rugby, worked off and on in the City for 40 years. I am now semi retired, continually research the city as a Hobby and want to give something back to a place I adore. The style is interactive, flexible, light-hearted and personal.

Iconic symbol of Bristol, well worth the visit. Mikes knowledge is comprehensive

We enjoyed Mike’s other tour so much we booked this one as well. There were 20 of us and we covered many suburbs of Bristol - how the very wealthy merchants used to live. Mike’s knowledge of the history is comprehensive. The Suspension Bridge is deceptively simple in construction - and the history fascinating! Highly recommend. (Good tea/coffee stop on the way 😊)

Exploring Clifton just wow!!! Views for miles 🌁🏛️🪻🌼🌺

The Clifton Suspension Bridge offers breathtaking views that stretch for miles—truly a stunning sight. It’s incredibly picturesque, and I highly recommend visiting the nearby Clifton Observatory. Don’t miss the cave experience there—it leads to an unforgettable viewpoint overlooking the gorge.

Fruitful Experience

Mike is experienced and kind. I didn't expect I am the only one in the tour, but he's still willing to operate for me. The tailormade therefore pretty much very interactive and cater my ability and interest. Thanks for Mike's suggestion for St Nicholas market visit during that afternoon and I did enjoy a wonderful day in Bristol

Amazing one to one tour of Bristol on Monday morning!

What can I say. You turn up to a guided tour expecting a large group going on the tour but it ends up just being yourself. Must be because it was a Monday! Anyway Mike the tour guide was was really informative and he knew his stuff about Bristol. From the time before Brunel the medieval Bristol to Brunel and the construction of the Clifton suspension bridge. To Banksy all the way to the present with the pulling down of the statue of Edward Colston and Black Lives Matter. Plus much more that hasn’t sunk in yet! Overall this is the perfect introduction to the city of Bristol. Thanks Mike and thanks for the pointers for which pubs to go to in the city.
