Grand Canyon South Rim Day Tour from Las Vegas

Description
There is a reason that Grand Canyon National Park is considered one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World. At 7,000 feet, its South Rim is nearly twice as deep as the lesser-known West Rim. Putting that height into perspective, that's enough to stack five and a half Empire State Buildings, seven Eiffel Towers & over 19 football fields! You’ll be mesmerized as you overlook the sheer beauty and vast expanse of the Canyon, stop at the best viewpoints, and receive extensive information about the history and geology of this magnificent natural wonder that can't be found in guidebooks. En route to the Park, you'll pass through the Mojave Desert and travel stretches of Route 66 in a luxurious 10-passenger Tour Trekker. This custom vehicle is equipped with plush leather captain’s chairs, extra-large viewing windows, and a flat-screen DVD player for the ultimate touring experience. Lunch is provided! Due to new NPS guidance, non-US residents may be subject to a $100 entrance fee.

Your tour sets off along historic Route 66 through the Mojave Desert, past the old Santa Fe Railway. Along the way, you’ll gain insider information about the wildlife, history, myths and legends of the Southwest.
Mather Point showcases the vastness of the Grand Canyon. It’s the perfect place to take panoramic photos, with distant views of the North Rim visible across the 10-mile expanse.
Enjoy some free time at the Grand Canyon Village, home to the historic Bright Angel Lodge and El Tovar Lodge. Explore on your own time before making your way back to Las Vegas.
Walk to Yavapai Point from Mather Point (less than 3/4 mile). It’s more non-stop photo ops at Yavapai Observation Station. This unique viewpoint offers more stunning vistas and an indoor experience that covers the site’s geology and topography with a wall of windows for unobstructed views over the rim.

The company quickly communicated with me once I purchased to trip to give me important details. The small group experience (we only had 5 total) provided more time for stops on the way to and at the Grand Canyon and it allowed us to get all of our questions answered. Gretchen was a fantastic guide, knew all of the answers to our questions, gave "insider" info about what we were seeing, communicated clearly about where and when to meet up with her, has wonderful storytelling skills to be sure we knew the history behind what we saw, and is knowledgeable, personable, kind, and took photos for us at the various so we could be in them. The food was good and the vehicle was very comfortable. For a future tour, I'd like to go below the rim to hike and possibly take a mule down the trail inside to get even better views and to better move my body. The drive to and from Las Vegas was lengthy (4 hours each way) but well worth it. The Grand Canyon is breathtaking and unbelievable!
It's hard to beat seeing the grand canyon, any way you do it. But our guide Jurgen and the entire Pink Jeep team made it even better. We had a great ride over and back from Vegas, and took in lots of details he offered about everything along the route, our future planned Tours, Vegas, and the rest of the Southwest. Plus he went out oh his way to entertain the kids, who aren't quite history or nature enthusiasts yet.
It’s a very long ride down and back, but well worth it. Bob was our tour guide. He was knowledgeable, entertaining and considerate. Couldn’t have been a better day.
Debbie Graham was our tour guide and nothing was too much trouble. We opted for this tour instead of a helicopter tour as we felt this had more to offer, We stopped at 2 old towns, one name Seligman and it was great to get a feel off a bygone era. This old town is where the Pixar Film cars was made and it was fall of character and memorabilia.
We had a fantastic day out with Debbie, who was very friendly and informative. She was the perfect balance of engaging and non-intrusive when we wanted some time alone to explore the trails. The Grand Canyon itself is just stunning and completely different to the West Rim side (I would recommend seeing both if you have time). The vehicle was very comfortable and breakfast/lunch was of good quality. The tour from start to finish was well organised, with plenty of information, beautiful scenery and interesting pit-stops! Would highly recommend Pink Jeep Tours for any of tours around this area!
This is not a cheap tour compared to the Gray Line and similar large group tours to the Grand Canyon, but it was well worth the extra money. We had a small group (our twosome and one other threesome), a large jeep and our guide John Holmes to ourselves all day. A minibus came to pick us up early at 6.15am from our hotel (several hotel stops for a total larger group of about 12, but still not many stops), and then took us to a rendezvous point where we dispersed into our smaller groups and guides. We had breakfast in the jeep (a provided bagel with cream cheese, fruit and fruit juice) as John started the long drive to the south rim of the Grand Canyon. He gave us interesting commentary on the way and we made two rest stops and had our provided lunch en route (a sandwich, bag of chips, carrots, cheese and crackers and cookies) before arriving at the Canyon. We then spent four hours at the Canyon itself and had plenty of time to take photos, walk along a trail along the edge, and visit the Kolb Brothers old studio (where the mule rides have gone from for many decades). John was a lovely presence throughout - very gentle, very informative and kind. He took the trouble to accommodate different people’s wishes as much as possible and was helpful without being intrusive, which I imagine is a difficult balance to get. He and his jeep were also a welcome source of iced bottles of water throughout the day. The long drive back to Las Vegas was accompanied by some interesting DVDs about the Canyon, and then a film for entertainment as it got dark. We were dropped off at our hotel safe and sound at about 6.30pm. Nothing can prepare you for the Grand Canyon, which is simply stunning, but this trip to see it was also great. Thank you, John!
Thank you for touring with us and for sharing your experience! We are pleased that your Tour Guide John provided a good presentation for your party. Thank you for choosing Pink!
Very organised tour with the amazingly stylish huge pink trunk! It was a small group of 4 of us so it felt more personable. Jesse was extremely knowledgeable and very helpful with any questions we had. The scenery doesn't require any reviews, it was obviously breathtaking, still can't believe we were there! Highly recommend the tour and glad we chose the South Rim, even though it was 4.5 hours each way, we had plenty of time at the canyon. We were back at the hotel by 7pm which was great as we had a 9pm show booked that evening.
We did the south rim tour with Debbie. Myself, my partner and another couple were the only people on the tour. First observations were that the truck/trekker was really comfy, air con, not too loud- perfect for travelling big distance. Now the tour itself... Amazing. We did the west rim tour last time which is a bit closer, south rim tour is alot longer (5:30am -8pm) but in my opinion totally worth it for what you get. We managed a few comfort stops along the way including a stop at Seligman, Arizona, a town on route 66 (really cool little place). Words can't actually describe the south rim- compared to the west it appears much more broad and somehow appears much more impressive (admittedly a tough task). It's really hard to take it all in but Debbie was pointing out land marks and details in the Canyon itself that try to give you an idea of the scale- i.e. those tiny little dots are actually 75ft trees- amazing! We got to walk along the rim to a visitor center and then had a short trip to another visitor centre further along, so you spend a good amount of time there to take it all in. Ice cream there is fantastic too, definitely recommended. Our tour guide Debbie really made the day. Loads of knowledge about the canyon, everything inside of the canyon and everything between the canyon and Vegas. Fantastic photographer too- she insisted on taking our cameras off us so she could get photos of my partner and myself at multiple points, we really appreciate that and we've got the tough task of choosing which ones to have framed. She also introduced us to the national park passport and stamps, of which we collected two. Can't wait to come back and get more! Overall summary- a long day, but totally totally worth it. Pink jeep were fantastic to book with and we're definitely looking forward to coming back and doing more trips with them.
Just got out the Pink Jeep following a tour to the South rim of the Grand Canyon and it was great. Well looked after from the minute we were picked up to the moment we were dropped off! Long drive but worth it to get the most spectacular views you can imagine. Our guide Bob was excellent, very knowledgeable and couldn’t do enough to help. Well done Pink Jeeps for a quality tour and many thanks Bob for the great input. Bob, I promise to listen and duck next time!!!!
We went on a day trip to the Grand Canyon from Las Vegas. It was organised by our holiday operator so we are unsure of the price. We were picked up from our hotel at 6.45 am and arrived back at our hotel at about 4 pm. There was plenty of complimentary cold bottled water which was distributed at every stop (plenty of toilet stops) and we were given a hot lunch (3 options) which was substantial. We stopped for a few minutes to take shots of the Hoover Dam on the way out. We went to 2 places overlooking the Grand Canyon. The first was at the skywalk, which you bought optional tickets when you were there ($20 plus) The second involved an optional short walk (not strenuous) Our guide (John Greenhaigh) was very informative and gave us a constant informed commentary. (although he did let us sleep on the return journey.
