The Palace of Fine Arts in the Marina District of San Francisco, California, is a monumental structure originally constructed for the 1915 Panama-Pacific Exposition in order to exhibit works of art presented there. One of only a few surviving structures from the Exposition, it is still situated on its original site. In addition to hosting art exhibitions, it remains a popular attraction for tourists and locals.
Certainly the most-photographed bridge in the world, the Golden Gate Bridge is synonymous with San Francisco. Drive up to the viewing area, or the foot of the bridge at Fort Point, to take pictures. You can take even better pictures at Baker Beach, a few minutes drive past the bridge!
Nothing beats zooming down Lombard Street, San Francisco's "Crookedest Street" in your GoCar at the end of your tour. This is a great way to experience one of San Francisco's most iconic streets.
Drive through San Francisco's Fisherman's Wharf, passing the bustling Crab Shacks, Bakeries and Curio Shops on your way to Golden Gate Bridge. Don't forget to wave to the other visitors!
Look for sand dollars in the fog and take photos of Seal Rock as it juts out of the Pacific Ocean at Ocean Beach.
Some of the most beautiful views of San Francisco Bay are in the Presidio, a decommissioned military base that boasts beautiful architecture, a War Memorial, the Disney Museum and even a bowling alley! This area is just a 15 minute drive from Fisherman's Wharf, but feels like another world!
At the foot of the Golden Gate Bridge, Fort Point is both an excellent photo spot for the bridge and a fascinating monument to Gold Rush -era San Francisco.
Crissy Field is where San Franciscan's exercise and play. Wave to runners, soccer players and dog walkers as you zoom past beautiful views of the Bay on your way to the Golden Gate Bridge.
A natural and cultural center, Golden Gate Park spans almost half the length of San Francisco, and is home to the Conservatory of Flowers, California Academy of Sciences, deYoung Museum, Japanese Tea Garden, Stow Lake and the Buffalo Paddock.

- GoCars hold a maximum of 2 people. Prices are per GoCar - not per person.
- Pickup location must be chosen at time of booking. This is the location where your GoCar will be reserved
- Driver must be 21 years or older to rent and must provide a major credit card and valid driver’s license at the time of check-in. A driver’s license must be in the customer’s physical possession (no photocopy). For foreign customer’s, an international license is not necessary.
- Passengers must be 4 years of age or older - and small children must safely fit into one of our DOT approved helmets. The GoCar is registered as a motorcycle - but a motorcycle license is not required to operate the vehicle.
- All renters must be able to read, understand and sign a liability release and waiver form (standard participant agreement)
- On the day of rental, a $500 security deposit will be held on the customer’s credit card. If a CDW or SLI insurance plan is selected, a $300 security deposit will be held. The security deposit is released when the GoCar is returned.
- Foreign language options are available in French, Spanish, Italian and German
- For the safety and comfort of passengers the maximum height is 6'4" (1.9m) and maximum combined weight of 500 lbs (226.8 kg) for two passengers
- Can you stop along the way?
- Yes, you set your own pace. The car always knows where you are and you can park anywhere you want (motorcycle parking or car parking) for as long as you want, and as soon as you start to drive again, the car will begin to talk!
- Do you have to stay on the tour?
- Absolutely not! If there is a San Francisco sight you wish to see but is not yet included on the tour, just use the map provided to navigate your own way through the city streets.
- Vehicles:
- Are controlled with a motorcycle-style handle, throttle, and hand brakes. The 3-wheeled cars seat two and have a lockable trunk for your things. Their small size makes parking a breeze, and in San Francisco - a major bonus!
- How fast does the car go?
- Up to 35-mph. Note that drivers in San Francisco do not typically drive fast, therefore an average speed of 30-mph or less can be expected while driving.
- Can you cross the Golden Gate Bridge?
- No, but the tour will navigate you to Fort Point. Here the bridge soars about 200-feet above your head. It is possible to gain pedestrian access to the bridge span from the car park at the bridge vantage point.
- What is a CDW?
- Collision Damage Waiver (CDW) is an optional form of insurance similar to rental car insurance that limits your liability in case of accident. It is non-refundable. If you opt to purchase the CDW your deposit for rented a GoCar is only USD$300.00 instead of USD$500.00

We rented two GoCars for the entire day, and overall it was a really fun and unique way to explore the city. The GoCars ran great, were easy to operate, and the GPS navigation was simple to follow. The built-in audio tour was a fantastic feature, providing interesting information and making the experience even more enjoyable. While the cars themselves were a bit worn cosmetically, they performed well and that didn’t affect our experience. I’m giving this experience 4 stars because the check-in process took much longer than expected. Since we booked through Viator, our reservation wasn’t loaded onto their check-in tablets, so nothing was prepared when we arrived. This delayed our departure and cut into our touring time. Additionally, the insurance information wasn’t very clear during booking. Viator mentioned an optional insurance fee, but when we arrived, we learned there were actually two recommended insurance options that would leave you with $0 out-of-pocket costs if anything happened to the vehicle. It would have been helpful if this had been explained more clearly upfront. Despite those issues, the GoCars themselves were a blast, and I’d still recommend the experience to anyone looking for a fun and memorable way to see the city.

I am taking the time to acknowledge your employee, Ray, at the San Francisco GoCar location. I had a reservation for a Slingshot, and when we arrived, the line was out the door and down the street with people who had and DID NOT have reservations. I've done Go Car here before, and after 10 minutes, I remembered the self-check-in kiosk. I made my way inside, and after accessing the Kiosk, I learned my reservation didn't come up. The waiting room was jam-packed with people checking in and others trying to get a new on-the-spot reservation. Ray was assisting some folks who had checked in and needed to watch the orientation video. Since this location didn't have anyone facilitating who should go where or answer any questions, I asked Ray for a moment of his time. After working with the folks who had to watch the orientation video, he went to a computer and pulled up my reservation. He realized that the slingshots were not in the kiosk check-in. He promptly worked on checking me in and ensuring we made our appointment at the scheduled time. Ray was extremely courteous, kind, and professional. He's a great employee for Go Car and should be recognized for his sincere professionalism! We had a great time on our Slingshot and did the Marin/Muir Woods. Great fun and I highly recommend it!

Absolutely loved the GoCar experience! We rented the cars for one hour, while others in our group rented theirs for three hours. I think the three-hour rental is probably better, but even the one-hour route includes Lombard Street and the Golden Gate Bridge. Driving the car was a real adventure and so much fun. The service was excellent, and the staff were incredibly kind and helpful. I was driving by myself, got lost, and returned early. They told me that when the rest of my group returned, someone could take me to Lombard Street—which was truly amazing customer service. My only criticism is that the GPS could be better. It tells you which route to follow, but the directions can be confusing, so it is easy to get lost. Despite that, I would still give the experience five stars—and the staff a definite 10 out of 10!

Checked in with the lovely Emma who gave us recommendation on the best route to take. We hired 2 cars for a group of 4. We had great fun and such a unique experience. However, make sure you wrap up as it gets especially chilly in San Fran. 1 of the cars had some technical issues and we lost the GPS so we are glad we had another car to follow. Great way to see San Fran and would recommend!

They should choose electric vehicles; they are not noisy like gasoline ones, otherwise, highly recommended!!!

My experience wasn’t the best. Once arrived to the shop it was so unorganized. No customer service, no one offered help. I had to wait 30 mins after my appointment to be helped and I arrived 20 mins prior to my appointment. Finally when I get checked in, signed the waiver and watched the instructional video I was given keys. My experience on the GoCar sucked. The navigation didn’t speak out loud like it should’ve even though I stay on track. They said if you go off track it won’t speak but it didn’t speak while I was on track the entire time. We got lost then kept driving in circles. I booked a two hour trip but ended it after one hour because of the issues

Check in was ridiculously difficult. Information on the tour was severely lacking. Sound didn’t work for part of the ride

Had a few challenges with finding our way round with this tour. Fun cars & easy to drive but the map is terrible - too small to read. It’s easy to get off a tour route as the navigation does not tell you where to go at every intersection. She then stops taking yo you! Tip - use your own mobile GPS - you can’t see the on board one - and know where you’re supposed to be going! Also one hour is not long enough. Allow an extra hour for checking in and getting lost!
