We had a great time learning about the German market's history. And the weather permitted a great enjoyable experience.
We were looking forward to this tour & it was a big disappointment. The guide was late & then she waited for a group that was late & standing around waiting in very cold weather when we were there 10 minutes before, as directed, wasn’t pleasant. The guide told us about the character she was portraying ( a fils de roi ) but didn’t stay in character much. She didn’t pay much attention to the group as a whole, but did spend quite a bit of time talking to individuals so again we ended up standing around. The 3 samples we tried were stollen, glühwein & a pretzel. We enviously eyed the fondue, sausages & chocolate. We learned a bit about the market but the food & the guide were lacklustre. We had 2 other tours with this company that we did enjoy.
We loved this tour. Our tour guide was so friendly, fun and knowledgeable. We loved her spirit and joy as she told us the history about the market and the food. It was a festive and fun experience that went by too fast. We made a new friend and she made our trip to Quebec City memorable.
Definitely not worth it. The “food tasting” consisted of a dry piece of fruitcake-like bread, two ounces of mulled wine and a not-so-exotic soft pretzel. The tour was nothing we couldn’t have done on our own just walking around the market. Very disappointing.
I came over from Lévis and was late…a woman at the tour office knew the route they take…found my group!! It was fun learning about the meanings of the decorations. Having mulled wine and a pretzel so nice in the cold!!
Worst tour I’ve ever been on. Only had wine tastings and the guide knew nothing. Total and complete waste of time and money
Bonjour, thank you for sharing your experience with us! We are sorry that your visit was not up to our standards. The tour did include the tasting of a traditional German cake, hot mulled wine and an authentic German bretzel. Our guides are certified to offer tours in Old Quebec, but with the popularity of the German Christmas Market and the traffic from the numerous guests on site, it can be hard to hear the guide from time to time. We hope that you had a great time in Quebec City!
Marie Jean was an excellent guide. I had no idea this German Christmas market existed and that it was the largest in North America. Very authentic and the food was delicious. A once in a lifetime discovery.
