We started our tour at the Don Cayo Distillery. If you choose the Grandfather tour, you will know in detail the process of making tequila, from cooking agave to bottling. During the visit, you will enjoy a guided tasting of the house’s flagship tequilas, renowned for their flavor and artisan quality. If you choose the Great Grandfather tour, the tour starts directly at the La Fortaleza distillery, where you will live a deeper and more traditional experience in one of the icons of artisan tequila.
Great-grandfather Tour – La Fortaleza Distillery Enjoy your visit to La Fortaleza with the Great Grandfather tour, an immersive experience of approximately 3 hours. During the tour you will get to know in depth the traditional process of making tequila, tour the distillery and have the opportunity to visit the agave fields, understanding the connection between land, time and artisan tequila. It is a complete, authentic and unhurried experience. Grandfather Tour – Don Cayo After the visit to Don Cayo, continue with the tour Grandpa, where you will discover the process of making tequila in the factory and enjoy a guided tasting. In this tour, the only difference is that it does not include the visit to the agave fields, perfectly complementing the experience for those who seek to know tequila from its origin to the cup.

The tour at Fortaleza was amazing. I’ve gone to other tours and this was by far the best. Our guide, Victor, was great and very informational. The distillery itself was beautiful and I would definitely come back again.

Eduardo was fantastic! He showed up on time for our departure and was very knowledgeable about various tequila distilleries and the history of its origin. The first stop had several various tequilas to try and the Premium selections had great taste. Los Abuelos was an absolute knockout tour. Obviously this is top tier artisanal tequila, but it makes you appreciate it more when learning about its history and walking the grounds. Our tour guide Kim was a sweetheart and very insightful. By far some of the best tequila you will ever taste.
I really liked the ride, it was all father and fun. I like to go again. Me and my friends, we don't spend them father and the tequila is delicious. 😎
Visiting Distilería Fortaleza was hands down the highlight of my trip to Tequila. I had visited another distillery before, but this one was completely different. Here, tequila is made the traditional way — using a tahona, wooden fermentation tanks, and copper stills. Everything is done by hand, and you can feel the craftsmanship at every step. The place is full of history and character. I learned a lot about the Sauza family and their commitment to preserving tequila’s original process. The final tasting was amazing — their tequila is smooth, complex, and truly one of a kind. If you’re looking for a real, non-commercial tequila experience, this is the distillery to visit. 100% recommended.
