Going towards one of the most mesmerizing attractions in Madeira island, Cabo Girão. This is the highest viewpoint in Europe, and it is only a 2 min walk from Cabo Girão´s village. This incredible viewpoint is at an incredible elevation of 580m, and is mostly famous due to its glass platform, which can be crossed by foot. Definitely not a viewpoint for the faint of heart, with a glass platform that makes it look at all the beautiful panoramas. The glass platform makes it possible to look at the view, and make someone feel as if walking on top of the cliff. It presents an astonishing view of Fajãs of Rancho and Cabo Girão. From up there it is possible to observe magnificent panoramic views of the ocean and the city of both Funchal and Câmara de Lobos. This spot is also used for paragliding and base-jumping, due to its altitude and positioning. Condé Nast Traveler chose Cabo Girão as the fifth-best viewpoint in the world, due to its astonishing splendour and its unique surroundings.
Arriving at one of Madeira’s wonders, a small town called Garajau, where the statue of the “Cristo Rei” can be found. This monument and its spectacular views are one of the main attractions in this small town. Cristo Rei´s statue was built back in 1927 and it was completed four years before the famous Christ the Redeemer statue in Brazil. This monument is an Art Deco statue of Jesus Christ and is the magnificent work of French sculptor Georges Serraz.
A thrilling journey that will initiate its course at Funchal´s Old Town, uncovering one of the most iconic places of Funchal city. Streets filled with stories and character, and buildings that have survived since the 15th century. (40 minutes ride until garajau)
Continuing to East of Funchal, revealing a tiny seaside village known as Garajau, but first a quick stop at one of the most mesmerizing viewpoints, named by locals as “Pináculo”. This viewpoint can be found in the street, Rua Conde Carvalhal. It lies 283 meters above sea level, and it has one of the most breathtaking views of the bay of Funchal.
Going towards the mountains, all the way up to Monte city. Prepare to be mesmerized with all the lovely plants, and one of the most visited churches on the island, Monte´s church. August 15th is when the day of Lady of Monte is celebrated and is the most important and most attended feast in Madeira Island. All of these fun facts and so many more will be explained to the clients by an expert driver/ storyteller.
The next stop will reveal one of the biggest attractions of Monte, the Monte Palace Madeira. This is one of the most visited, and adored places in the city of Funchal because of its immense and fascinating garden. A stop of one hour and a half will be made here, to take photos, enjoy the space, and why not enjoy a cup of coffee at the “Greenhouse Coffee Roaster”. This special place is not only known for its great variety of plants but also by its central lake that houses swans and ducks, some peacocks and chickens can also be found in the main areas of the property. So, be quick to take some lovely and creative shots. Inside the park, there is also the possibility to be acquainted with the museum, The Monte Palace Madeira Museum. A space that has three floors, two dedicated to sculptures amongst others, and the third is where you will find a compilation of unique minerals.
An exclusive tuk-tuk ride of the Botanical Garden
This exciting journey will take you 355 meters above sea level, showing one of the most splendid panoramic views over the city of Funchal Bay. This viewpoint is known as Pico dos Barcelos and is located in Funchal, providing a fascinating panoramic view of the city.
Continuing this journey towards another great perspective of the island, located at an elevation of 1,095 m above sea level. The Eira do Serrado viewpoint is in the mountains in the city of Câmara de Lobos. This spot shows a fantastic panoramic view of the valley, where one can see the charming village of Curral das Freiras, and the most majestic mountains have a backdrop. From up there, you will be able to soak up all the beauty, and the sounds of nature that are asking to be appreciated and felt. This viewpoint/terrace was built in 1962, having had some upgrades through the years to make it even more inviting to all its guests. All these facts and many more, you can expect to be told on your tuk-tuk ride with us at Tukway.
With this tour, we aim to show our lovely Tukway friends the best viewpoints the island has to offer, and the last one of this journey will be the Nuns Valley. Why the name Nuns Valley one might ask. Because back in 1566, some nuns from the Santa Clara Convent in Funchal sought refuge in this remote spot whilst French pirates attacked and plundered their city. Since then, this place was named and known as Nuns Valley. Surrounded by massive mountains, bursting with green vegetation, and the peace and solitude that this place offers are undeniably one of a kind. You will be able to take all this amazingness with a 30-minute spot at this place.

Absolutely fantastic 'Greg' our guide was so knowledgeable and a fun guy to spend a day with cannot sing his praises highly enough!!!
Our Guide Moises was superb. He was on time and enabled us to see everything from Capo Girao to Monte. His shared his knowledge of the history, culture, and life in Madeira so that we gained a great appreciation of this island. We were able to enjoy the coffee and pastry from a great little spot, and had the freshest and tastiest Poncha. We highly recommend Moises and this experience.
Great tour ! Highly recommend when in Madeira. Our driver and guide extraordinaire Ricardo was wonderful. He speaks English, Spanish and Portuguese. He safely drove us all over the island stopping at beautiful sites while telling us about the history of Funchal and Madeira. He was very courteous, funny and knowledgeable about the country. The tuktuk is fun and able to go to areas the busses cannot. The weather was beautiful and cool. Perfect for the ride through the city. We travel a lot and this was one of the best tours we have had. Highly highly recommend. This is a great company. We booked the wrong date and the owner made it happen.
