The Cliffs of Moher and Ailwee Caves are amazing attractions on western Ireland. We had great weather and had plenty of time at each attraction. The caves are cold and a little slippery so dress accordingly. If I were to do it again, I’d take a tour that gets you to western Ireland and then the attractions via train and not a bus. Traffic is pretty brutal during peak season so our guide had to drive like a madman to keep us on time. My head still hurts from the fast turns and his heavy foot on the gas and the brake. The boat tour experience is 100% dependent on the seat you get on the boat. If you’re in the last group to board, you’ll be fighting to get photos of the cliffs. People sit and then don’t move for people that didn’t get lucky. The windows on the non-viewing deck level aren’t clean so you can’t get good photos. And if you get seasick easily — bring Dramamine!
Ok, let’s start with the good: the tour itself was fantastic. The Cliffs were amazing - and getting to see them from the water as well as on the cliffs themselves was really great. Ailwee caves were nice. Lunch was great. The less good: for starters, our bus had some sort of mechanical issue that made it beep every few minutes for 13 hours. Our driver’s driving could have been better, particularly on decelerations. Rather than slow down smoothly, he constantly pumped the brakes, which made us all quite car sick. Lastly, we got a weird conspiracy theory about the British and a potato genocide that somehow tied into Israel. I could have done without all that. It was weird. All in all, even with the car sickness and needless politics, the Cliffs and caves still shined.
The trip was organized and efficient. The cliffs were magnificent. The weather was not so good but at least it lifted for the boat ride. When on the top of the cliffs, though, we had thick fog and saw nothing. Caves were unique to me because they had more rock and fewer stalagmites and stalactites. Huge. Philip was energetic, informative, and helpful. I see reviews about the weather which of course the tour company cannot control or even predict whether it will change enough to cancel or keep. You have to make the call yourself. The weather is very iffy . It just is. It’s part of the Irish experience. Know ahead that it is a long day and h to see is a chance of not ideal conditions and even not seeing anything. Unless it is flooding, you will see the caves.
Beautiful day despite the weather. Great to see the cliffs from above and below. Long day but we'll worth it!
Great trip! Mathew the tour guide was a great guide and driver. So much fun. I highly recommend this trip to everyone.
This is a long but wonderful day. Beautiful views and picture perfect sights. Wear your walking shoes and prepare for a day you won't forget.
This was an excellent outing. My wife and I had a great experience. Matt was outstanding. We loved how he explained the history of certain subjects during the tour, and how thorough Matt was. The ferry was a little rough. The boat should have more handles for grasping while encountering rough waters. People fell several times while attempting to take scenic pictures. The excursion overall was great. Thanks Matt for showing us such a fantastic time.
It was absolutely terrible. The majority of the people were getting sick from the high seas. They should had cancelled it. What’s the purpose if the majority get so sick and spend over $60.09.
It’s an opportunity to see all picturesque places from Dublin to the west of Ireland, enjoy the nature and Galway city , which was amazing at Xmas time. Jonathan was attentive, interesting storyteller, I got plenty of interest information about Ireland
Thank you for your kind feedback! It’s wonderful to know you enjoyed the tour.
Derrick Nixon, our bus driver and tour guide, was absolutely a delight and the epitome of exceeding customer expectations! He made our day fun and sang several Irish songs!! He was very organized and efficient and very clear on our schedule for the day. I highly recommend this day tour and Mr. Nixon as your tour guide!
We’re happy to know Derek enriched the tour! Thanks for sharing your experience.
