Itinerary
Our first stop will be Caltagirone (UNESCO World Heritage), which is famous for its production of pottery. This tradition of ancient ceramics dates back to Arab dominations, and still holds its characteristic colours, blue and yellow. The Arabian contribution to the city culture is honored in the name of the town, that according to the most intriguing hypothesis, might be derived from the Moorish for “castle” or “fortress of vases”. Accompained by our tour leader, You will visit the historical center, the famous “Staircase of Santa Maria del Monte“, and the culture of pottery in all the city: excellent colored glazes blue and green that adorn the streets, staircases, balconies, squares, fountains, churches and palaces.
Villa Romana del Casale (Piazza Armerina): This place dates back to late Roman antiquity (period of transition between the ancient times and the Middle Ages): although it is defined as Villa mostly the characteristics of the imperial palace, since it consists of 4 pavilions. In addition to its architectural magnificence, the villa is famous for its beautiful mosaics, which represent scenes of everyday life and the function of the rooms in which they are located. Your tour leader will lead you at the entrance of the Villa. You will have 1 hour and an half to visit the Villa by yourself. We will give you online informative brochure and maps.

did not have enough time at the two stops… was very rushed. was only allotted around three hours total. You need more time to experience these stops. Left at 8:45- was back by 4:45.
IORGA was our driver and he did absolutely amazing, he was so thorough and had a great wealth of knowledge about Sicily. Thanks Iorga for the firemans experience. Hope your son like Luggi. We felt Iorga went above and beyond our expectations. Highly recommend for a tour guide.
Very enjoyable tour. Damiano was very informative, and made us aware at every stop as to how much time we had to explore. The mosaics are a must see in Sicily.
