Description
Frida Kahlo and Diego Rivera helped define Mexican modernism. On this tour, we’ll gain insight into the lives of two of Mexico’s most iconic and influential artists. We’ll get a sense of how she lived and worked in this eclectic and deeply personal space. Surrounded by her artwork, clothing, photographs, we’ll connect intimately with her story. Next, we’ll shift our focus to Diego Rivera as we take a taxi to our final stop: the Museo Estudio Diego Rivera, the artists’ twin homes and studios. Itinerary
During the tour we will visit Frida Kahlo Museum, her former abode and where many of her self-portraits were created. The historic building is the artist’s former home and where many of her self-portraits were created. We’ll explore her most intimate spaces, filled by her artwork, photos, clothing, and even corsets she wore as a result of childhood polio and a horrifying bus accident in 1925. Our expert guide will lead you through the artist’s charming courtyards, gardens, and fountains and discuss the major influences on her work: the tragic accident, her personality, her identity as a Mexican woman and of course, Diego.
Then we will proceed to the Museo Estudio Diego Rivera y Frida Kahlo, or the dual homes and studios of the lovers Diego Rivera and Frida Kahlo. Our expert will enliven the notable modern architectural space, the objects and artwork within through stories of Diego’s intense interest in native Mexican cultures as well as the couple’s epic love affair, tumultuous marriages, and the impact that they had on their city, country and the world.

Our guide Neene was absolutely wonderful. She was incredibly knowledgeable, and we learned a lot. She was exceptional.
Our guide, 'Neene', was fantastic. Her commentary brought the museum to life and gave a glimpse into the lives of Frida and Diego.
A fantastic place!! The house, the area, the atmosphere, ... a wonder to spend the day in Coyoacan !!! Pure inspiration!!!
Our tour guide Neene was awesome! You can tell she really loves art and architecture and led us around the houses with ease and great facts about Frida, Diego and Juan O’Gorman!! Highly recommend!!
The experience was very good, as it was the first time I visited the facilities of the Frida Kahlo museum, however, I urge the guide who accompanied us to continue, improving his English and delve a little more into Frida Kahlo’s personal artistic history.
Daniel was an amazing tour guide! He was so knowledgeable and friendly made the tour very pleasant and fun! Highly recommend him for the tour. The museum itself was amazing and an experience I’ll never forget
Mar was an excellent guide and so very knowledgeable about Frida and Diego. Without question do this tour with Mar.
Unfortunately, we took the address from the app to give our Uber driver and the address was incorrect and we had to pay additional cash to driver to take us to the Casa Azul correct address. Because of this, we arrived late and although our tour guide, Armando, was in communication and waited, we were told he would not have time to take us to Diego’s studio. In fact, we almost didn’t get into La Casa Azul!! Armando’s tour was great. He was informative and friendly. Unfortunately, we reached out to tour agent and could not be compensated for another day. She stated that the ticket voucher did state the correct address and wasn’t responsible for how the Viator app wrote out the address. This was going to be the highlight of the trip from NY.
Dear Carmen, Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. After thoroughly investigating the situation, we must confirm that all sources, including the ticket, confirmation letter, and Viator website, provided the correct address for the tour. It seems the official information included in your ticket and confirmation letter was not used to navigate to the meeting point. As the tour operator, we always encourage our guests to rely on the official sources we provide, verify directions in advance, and contact us immediately if any issues arise. Unfortunately, when the official instructions are not followed, situations like this fall outside of our control. Regarding your tour experience, your reservation was for a group tour with pre-purchased tickets for two museums: the Frida Kahlo Museum and Diego Rivera’s Studio House. Since you arrived after the tolerance period for late arrivals, we adjusted the tour to ensure you could still have a meaningful experience. Our guide, Armando, waited for you for an hour, going beyond our policy. He did all his best to ensure the museum administration allowed you entry after the official entrance time and customized the tour to make it as fulfilling as possible under the circumstances. However, as another tour with Armando was scheduled afterward, we were unable to extend the tour after its finishing time. We strive to provide great service and clear communication at every stage of the booking process. We have been with you every step of the way, from your reservation to addressing your final concerns, to ensure the best possible experience. Thank you again for your feedback, and I’m glad you enjoyed your visit to the Frida Kahlo Museum with Armando. Best regards, Anastasiya City Art Tours Mexico
A friend and I took this tour on Tuesday, October 22. Wow. What a great tour. Our Guide Neene was the best imaginable - very knowledgeable of art and of the lives of Frida and Diego. We had many questions and she answered them all - patiently.
Neene was a fantastic tour guide for our party of 7. She was extremely knowledgeable and attentive to our group. She paced the tour to fit our schedule and that was appreciated, but at same time, we didn't feel like we missed anything. Highly recommend this tour.
