Description
What could possibly go better together than English wine and English cheese? Quite simply nothing, they were made for each other! This wine tour will consist of a guided tasting at the award winning Chapel Down Vineyard and Wayfarer Wines. Followed by a picnic lunch amongst the vines with of course a glass of Chapel Down wine. Then we head to Silcocks Farm, who are well known for their delicious cheeses and organic produce which is all made right there on the farm. We will introduce you to the cheese making process and organic farming, and then onto the main event…an English Wine and English Cheese pairing with some of our favourite English Wines and English Cheeses. You’ll get to sample a selection of some of our favourite English Wine and English cheeses and learn the all important art to pairing food and wine; before having the opportunity to purchase some of the delights we’ve sampled (and more) from the fine food store.

After having enjoyed a few Wine and Cheese tours with English Wine Tasting they kindly arranged a private wine tour for me and friends in Kent as part of our big birthday celebrations. We visited three wonderful and varied vineyards for tastings with Brian our lovely guide and had a great lunch at a local pub. Brian kept us entertained with loads of information and answered our many questions and we tasted some excellent wines and bought a few too! A thoroughly good day out, well organised by Nicola and very much enjoyed, thanks again!
Had a wonderful day exploring some of Kent’s vineyards! At Wayfarer, I really enjoyed hearing the family business story and experiencing the host’s warm hospitality. My favourites were the Bacchus and the rosé with lovely strawberry notes. Oast Wood Vineyard impressed me with its sparkling wine and a refreshing blend of 50% Pinot Gris and 50% Bacchus. Despite the windy and rainy weather, Woodchurch provided a very warm welcome. Their Classic Brut NV was a standout and a perfect way to finish the tour. A great experience overall, with excellent wines, passionate hosts, and beautiful Kent countryside.
We had a great time on our tour even with the rain. If it had been a sunny day 6 stars. Brian our guide was very friendly and knowledgeable about English Wine. We were very surprised at how good the wine was having never tasted English wine before. I preferred the still wine over sparkling.
Brian was a delight and made sure that we had a great time. I was a bit unsure about this experience first, but it's totally worth it. Brian, if you are reading this - thank you!
Thank you for your review. I so glad to hear you enjoyed your day with Brian.
Really enjoyed the wine and cheese tour as a birthday treat. Lou gave us a great commentary on the wine making process and the wine we sampled. Thoroughly recommended.
Absolutely lovely wine tasting tour to Sedlescombe, Chappell Down and Woodchurch vineyards. We love English bubbles and were eager to learn more about the fantastic wines produced here. Justin was the perfect guide from he picked us up in London and through the whole day. Don’t be surprised if we bring friends from Norway and do this again with you. Great day.
Such a well organised enjoyable trip. Found the right balance of vineyard visits, information provided and time in the minibus. Would definitely recommend to friends and will likely be back to do another tour.
Was booked for my uncles 60th birthday, he said the day was great from start to finish, well organised
This was a wonderful way to spend the day. Brian was a fantastic tour guide. His knowledge of viticulture & the history of wine production was astounding. He was warm, friendly, funny & really interesting. We tried lots of different wines at Sedlescombe organic vineyard, some of which I would not have chosen (but very much enjoyed), and Sharon was clearly passionate about organic and biodynamic wine making. She was engaging & fun. Brian imparted his knowledge about Chapel Down wines & we supped under the shelter of a tent as the rain tried to spoil it! The light lunch at Silcocks farm shop was delicious, and Nicola & Justin made the cheese & wine pairing afternoon really interesting & fun. We worked out that we tried 17 different wines over the course of the day, and were suitably fluffy-headed & cheese-drunk by the end of the day. Thank you to English Wine Tasting & Tours. We will be back
Thank you so much for joining us Becky, it was great to meet you both. I hope you got home in time for the football, and what a result it was!
Many thanks Justin and Nicola for a really enjoyable day. Justin provided lots of interesting information on the journey and the two tastings provided great opportunities to try some excellent wines we had not previously encountered. We found the cheese and wine pairing session very good, learning lots about both the wines and the cheeses and have found some new favourites in both! Would thoroughly recommend this tour, learned lots and had good fun too.
