Itinerary
After meeting your guide and fellow Potter-heads near Tron Kirk Market, your tour starts with a stroll along Edinburgh’s world-famous Royal Mile!
We’ll stop at a great viewpoint to see the historical Waverley Train station, much used by JK Rowling and an inspiration for trains being an iconic part of a young wizard's journey.
Looking over Edinburgh New Town, your guide will point out some key features that played a major part in the creation of the magical Harry Potter world.
Next, we’ll pass by this famous old campus which provided lots of inspiration to JK Rowling’s creations…. This place might remind you of Hogwarts!
We continue through the atmospheric streets of the Old Town, where your guide will show you many of the city’s most famous historical landmarks.
In this spooky graveyard you will see many recognisable names from the Potter world - this is the site of Tom Riddell’s grave and a number of other names used for JK Rowling’s characters.
You’ll enjoy wonderful views of this beautiful old castle, which plays a huge part in Scottish history as well as inspiring JK Rowling's Potter Universe.
With its colourful independent shops, overhanging street signs and the cobbled street that twists and turns out of view, it's easy to see why this is said to be the inspiration for Diagon Alley!
We end the tour at the City Chambers where we see the impact that JK Rowling has had on Edinburgh itself, and her huge contributions to the local community.
Finally, we’ll head to one of our favourite local pubs in the lively Grassmarket area nearby. This is a great chance to chat all things Potter with your group, and a great way to start your evening in Edinburgh! One drink (wine/beer/spirit & mixer/soft drink etc.) is included in the price. Extra drinks or snacks available at your own expense.

It was a wonderful experience. I love that we got to see a lot of the inspiration for the Harry Potter books. Our guide was perfect! Very funny and enthusiastic. The drinks at the end were great and nice way to end the tour. Highly recommend.
Such a fun tour! Our guide Jackson was very impressive - great mix of Harry Potter stories, trivia, and Edinburgh lore while walking through the gorgeous backdrop of the city center. Strongly recommend!
I am not a huge Harry Potter fan, but I did find this tour fantastic and full of information!!! Our guide Jackson did an awesome job!!
Kirsty was great fun, the tour was great and her knowledge went very deep and was quite interesting. even hung out after the tour! absolute blast!
It was very cool seeing all the locations jk rowling went to and even the law building "hagrid" went to. Very knowledgeable and fun to learn about
What a perfect time spent in Edinburgh. Our tour guide, Jackson was absolutely delightful (for a Slytherin…lol) He gave us a wonderful tour that not only included Harry Potter, and JK Rowling trivia, but a great tour of Edinburgh too. We highly recommend booking with Jackson. He will not disappoint.
Jackson, our tour guide was amazing. Jackson was so energetic and was oozing so many Harry Potter facts. My 29 year old son was more the Harry Potter fan during the tour, but I now feel it necessary to go home and study the ways of Slytherin. Great tour and I highly recommend it.
Great tour. Jackson, our tour guide was excellent. He was most knowledgeable, energetic and attentive. It was fun to have a tour guide so in tune and passionate about the subject matter. I took my kids to see Harry Potter films and encouraged their reading. I was never really a Harry Potter enthusiast. But now I plan on downloading them, if to only understand better the Slytherin vibe.
Jackson was a great guide! He is Harry Potter knowledge book and very enthusiastic! It is great to see how JK Rowling intertwined Edinburgh and Harry Potter.
We had a great time with our guide Jackson! We went to many interesting locations. Jackson had great stories for each one. The views of the city at night were truely magical! We would highly recommend.
