Description

Our Eat the East End tour is designed to showcase the very best of London's ethnic communities and the amazing food we all love. This small group tour will take you through the character filled streets of London's east end. Stopping at some of our favourite eating spots. Some world famous, some only locals know. All independently owned with fantastic dishes waiting for us to try. From a Ghanian chocolate maker to a Bengali snack bar this tour packs a powerful flavour punch as we meander the narrow streets of Shoreditch and the East End ending in a traditional English pub. Colouful stories are never far away. We'll walk the very streets where Jack the Ripper prowled in Victorian times. We'll see unique street art and hear about a few local legends. Ending in Spitalfields market our tour traces London's history. From early Shakespeare days right up to the glistening glass towers of the financial city today. And all whilst trying some of London's best bites. We can't wait to welcome you

One of the East End's most famous streets. Brick Lane is the epi centre of London's south Asian community. Famous as the place to go for curries and other South Asian delicacies. The street has a fascinating past and is now home to London's hip and trendy. We'll explore the length of the street stopping at famous vendors as we go. There's always something going on here and you sometimes feel like you're part of a film. Full of local characters and amazing places to grab a bite.

At one time one of the largest breweries in the world and now home to a weekend market. Steeped in history and a centre point for many of the area's stories.

One of London's most famous and popular food markets. Quality local produce is used alongside ingredients from around the world. Nowhere is the melting pot of London more represented in food form.

Once a slum of London, Shoreditch is now the home of the hipster. Some of the best bars and restaurants are found here and it's an area full of history and constantly evolving culture.

30 min

London East End Food Tour

George made it fun and was so knowledgeable about the area as he grew up there. He had a solid history of the neighborhood which added to the experience.

Operator response

Thank you so much for the kind words. We aim for every tour to be like hanging out with a local friend. I think the East End is the perfect neighbouhood for this type of experience and it's George's back yard. We're delighted you enjoyed the experience. Thank you for choosing us to show you our city.

Next round of London Black is on me!

Trevelyan is more than a food guide — he is also a historian, an architect and a writer. Each of these qualities made the tour even more engaging and interactive. He also has a great sense of humor, which makes him more personable. His knowledge extended beyond East End as he answered our questions that had little to do with the tour. The variety of food sampled was excellent, and to end the tour with a half-pint of London Black was the best way to finish. As a side note, another tour passed us, and we reflected on how a megaphone would be useful for future tours!

Operator response

Thank you so much. It's fantastic to know you had so much fun on the tour. Trevelyan is a mind of London info and loves showing the city off to our guests. We like to go under the radar and blend in on our tours so absolutely no chance of a megaphone, haha. Thanks so much for choosing us to show you around and I hope you had as much fun for the rest of your stay here. Safe travels.

I booked this tour...

I booked this tour specifically to go to Beigal Bake on Brick Lane and was pleasantly surprised about how much I enjoyed the food at a couple of the other stops. Veronica was a great tour guide sharing her knowledge of the area and the time really flew by. This was a great food walking tour but just know you definitely need to come hungry! At the six stops, we had food tour tasting portions, but it was still a lot of food.

Operator response

Hi Robyn, Thanks so much for the kind words. We try our best to make all the food tastings just the right mix. They've all got a unique story and they all represent different communities of our great city. It's great to hear you enjoyed visiting them as well as all of Veronica's stories along the way. The team at Beigel bake are great fun and it's a business with a great story. Thanks a lot for choosing us to show you around.
