I personally rode a regular men's bike with electrical capability and a large padded saddle seat. My wife rode a step through ebike with a narrow, barely padded racing style seat. The tour was led by a young woman named Gris, who confidently led our group of five through the streets of Cozumel. She took us to three points of interest in Cozumel. The first was a cathedral historic to the city itself. The second was to a statue of an old woman who depicted the origins of the Mayan culture who lived here centuries ago. The third was to a small, family run taqueria off the beaten path. We were treated to homemade, hand rolled blue tacos filled with our choice of fillings from simmering crocks of delicious choices. There was pork, chicken, chorizo, beef and a vegetarian option. You were able to choose three separate tacos and a drink of your choice from their choice of bottled beverages. My favorite taco was.mole'. It was a chicken with spices, banana and chocolate concoction. I had a hibiscus drink with lunch. The restaurant was.not air conditioned but instead had several fans to keep air moving in that small space. The restrooms were clean and the hosts were friendly. Seating inside for around 20 people. Finished lunch and headed back out into the final leg of our.jpurney. Gris was constantly attentive to the group following her through areas that were sometimes busy with passing cars and other times traffic was scarce as we shifted our bikes from 3rd to 5th gear as we.flew along some of the quieter sections of Cozumel. Gris.provided a bottle of water to each rider and wife and I carried an extra.bottle each for the about 4 hour long ride. I experienced only mild fatigue in my arms during the ride.on my big padded saddle seat while my wife is still experiencing tailbone pain a week later. Despite that we still consider this to be an exceptional tour of Cozumel. Say Hi to Gris from Steve and Missy from Atlanta.
Our e-bike tour with Gris and Luis was an amazing experience. They explained the bike and we went on a wonderful ride along the coast in a small group. They even took a little detour to stop by a place both the couples in our group wanted to see. The tacos were amazing and there was no way we would have found the restaurant without them. I hope I can make it back to Cozumel to do it all again.
Excellent experience. Good pace. Guides were helpful, accommodating and informative. Highly recommend.
Very enjoyable. We have been to Cozumel numerous times but this tour provided us a way to see parts of the island that you normally would not see. Our guide stopped a couple of times along the way to explain the heritage and traditions of the island. The e-bikes were well maintained and the guide instructed us on how to operate them. The bikes are easy to operate once everything was explained about it. The taco lunch was very good and authentic to Cozumel. Our guide, Gris, was very helpful and considerate. If you want a tour of the island and enjoy getting some exercise (with some assistance in pedaling!) we strongly recommend this tour.
We went on a flat 18 mile E bike guided tour through Shore Excursions. Our guide Grace was awesome! It was the 3 of us and 3 other gentlemen. We ride E bikes at home, but we usually keep it on assist level 1, which is enough for us. We kept it on 2 most of the way, but as we headed towards the north end of the island Grace asked us to move to level 4. We actually liked it! We really cruised along. We were riding on the city streets. We started on some back roads, but then spent most of the time on the main roads. We went by the airport, a military base, the city and a lot of resorts. Just a small part of our route was sectioned off for bicycles, but we were usually right amongst the taxis, buses and motorcycles. They were very cooperative, at no time did we feel unsafe. We stopped for tacos on homemade blue tortilla shells. They were delicious. From there it was about a 3 mile ride back to where we started. As we finished eating it started raining. We rode quickly back in the rain, got splashed by cars, etc. we were soaked! It was really fun though. We then had a 10 minute walk back to the ship. We did a little shopping along the way. Grace was so helpful, informative and caring.
Ebiking is an excellent way to tour the city, and not feel like tourists! We really enjoyed getting to see the City and had a lot of fun too. Gris was a super leader. Highly recommend!
This was our second booking with Beach Bum Cozumel in the past 5 years, each time while visiting the island on a cruise. Their store is located an easy 15-minute walk north from the International Pier. The Pedego e-bikes are quite easy to operate, and you can use the pedal assist mode as much or as little as you want. (For those who have no desire to pedal, the bike basically functions like a moped.) Our tour guide was Gris, who was absolutely fantastic, sharing some of her island heritage, while ensuring that we were all safe during our leisurely ride through San Miguel, north into the hotel district. Our group was fairly small, just 3 total, and I was interested in purchasing a leather wallet, so we visited the local Flea Market where Gris connected us with a few reputable vendors. We finished the tour with lunch at a very traditional Mexican restaurant, a little off the "beaten path" from Rafael E Melgar Ave, where you can choose 3 tacos from 10 different fillings, with tortillas made on-site from scratch. Very delicious! As above, this was our second booking in 5 years, and I wouldn't hesitate to book a third time during a future visit to Cozumel.
This was a small group. Our guide, Gris, was amazing and made sure we were having a fun time. Authentic tacos - yum!! Highly recommend
Bikes are old and need better maintenance. You follow a leader but no one in the back and “when” not “if” there are issues, it’s up to your fellow riders to get the attention of the guide. Would have like a few more places to see and stop for pictures rather then ride ride ride
Gris was a fabulous guide! The bikes were in good condition. The ride was safe even if you are not too experienced or not a big biker. The group was small! Yay! We saw a lot and had the best tacos of my life!
