We have been on numerous excursions from Mexico to Italy. However our experience with Red Dunes and our guide Khalid is at the top of the list. Khalid was very kind and courteous. He greeted us outside of Terminal 3 at the Port of Dubai and we began our 45 min trip to the desert. After a brief restroom break I noticed Khalid taking air out the tires of our SUV. That was my first indication the fun was about to start. Khalid is an expert driver and the dune bashing that followed was the highlight of our entire trip. Khalid gave us a thrilling ride over the Red Dunes. Not only is Khalid an expert driver, but an excellent photographer and a decent DJ. He knows exactly which picture to take and the dunes he selected matched his driving maneuvers precisely. After the dune bashing and photo session, we approached an impressive castle looking basecamp that looked like something out of Lawrence of Arabia. We could smell mouth watering barbecue cooking on grills inside the fortress. Inside the camp, water, soft drinks and sandwich wraps were provided complimentary. We were given a chance to freely roam the Bedouin while the sun and moon exchanged positions. The barbecue or more aptly described feast was an epicurean delight with authentic flavors from the region. Steak, lamb, and chicken kabobs were grilled to perfection and the assorted vegetable dishes were too numerous to name. After the feast the entertainment began. Belly dancing and a fire performer rounded out a magnificent excursion. Again thank you Khalid for the adventure of a lifetime!!!!
