Itinerary
The Royal Tyrrell Museum is Canada’s premier dinosaur and paleontology museum, located in the heart of the Alberta Badlands. Visitors can explore one of the world’s largest displays of dinosaur fossils, interactive exhibits, and life-sized reconstructions of prehistoric creatures. The museum also features engaging galleries that highlight Earth’s history, ancient sea life, and the evolution of plants and mammals. Perfect for families, students, and anyone fascinated by natural history, this museum offers an unforgettable journey back in time.
Explore the jaw-dropping beauty of Alberta's badlands on this guided hike through Horseshoe Canyon—a dramatic, U-shaped canyon just minutes from Drumheller. Learn about the region’s unique geology, prehistoric past, and native flora as you descend into the canyon floor. Perfect for hikers, photographers, and families seeking a deep connection with Alberta’s ancient landscapes. Please note that Horseshoe Canyon is closed for the season it re-open back on 17th April 2026.
Step into the surreal landscape of the Alberta Badlands and witness the otherworldly beauty of the Drumheller Hoodoos—tall, thin spires of rock sculpted by wind, water, and time. These iconic sandstone pillars, some standing over 20 feet tall, are one of the most photographed natural landmarks in the province. Begins with a scenic drive along the Hoodoo Trail (Highway 10), where dramatic rock formations and canyons stretch across the horizon. Enjoy a self-paced or guided exploration of the area along the short, interpretive trail. You'll walk among towering hoodoos, learn how they formed over millions of years, and understand the fragile balance that keeps them standing today. Along the way, your guide will share fascinating stories about the region’s Indigenous history, early coal mining settlements, and the prehistoric world beneath your feet. You'll have plenty of time for photos, short hikes, and quiet moments to appreciate the strange beauty of these rock formations.
Step back in time and take in sweeping views of the Canadian Badlands with a walk across the historic Rosedale Suspension Bridge, one of Drumheller’s hidden gems. Spanning the Red Deer River, this pedestrian-only suspension bridge was originally built in the 1930s to serve local coal miners—and now offers travelers a one-of-a-kind crossing experience. As you walk the slightly swaying 117-metre (384 ft) bridge, take in panoramic views. Your guide will share stories of Drumheller’s coal mining history, the workers who once used this very bridge, and how the region transformed from an industrial town into a paleontological and tourist hub. After crossing the bridge, enjoy a short leisurely stroll on the riverbank, explore photo-worthy angles of the bridge from below, or simply enjoy the peaceful landscape. This is a great spot for photos, birdwatching, and history lovers—and a perfect add-on stop to a day of exploring Drumheller’s natural wonders.
Step back in time as you explore Wayne, one of Canada’s best-preserved ghost towns nestled in the heart of the Alberta Badlands. Once a bustling coal mining town, Wayne now offers travelers a fascinating glimpse into early 20th-century life, surrounded by stunning badlands scenery. Wander through the quiet streets lined with historic buildings, including the old Last Chance Saloon, former miners’ homes, and rustic shops — many still standing as they were decades ago. Learn about the town’s rise during Alberta’s coal mining boom and its eventual decline as mines closed, leaving behind a haunting but beautiful snapshot of the past. Please note that Wayne Town Last Chance Saloon will be Closed From December 15th 2025 till Mid April 2026.
Prepare to be amazed as you come face-to-face with the World’s Largest Dinosaur, a massive 26-metre (86-foot) tall fiberglass T-Rex that towers over the town of Drumheller. This iconic roadside attraction is a must-see landmark and one of Canada’s most beloved photo spots. Climb the stairs inside the dinosaur’s legs to reach a viewing platform that offers sweeping panoramic views of Drumheller and the surrounding Badlands. Along the way, learn fun facts about T-Rex anatomy, the prehistoric era, and Alberta’s rich dinosaur fossil heritage. CAD 5 is Admission Fee

Jay was an incredible tour guide! Our trip to Drumheller was fantastic from beginning to end. He was friendly, professional, and very knowledgeable, sharing interesting facts and stories throughout the day. The tour was perfectly organized, and Jay made sure everyone felt comfortable and had enough time to enjoy each stop. His positive attitude and great sense of humor made the experience even more memorable. Thank you, Jay, for an amazing day! I highly recommend taking a tour with him if you’re visiting Alberta.
We saw lots of places in a short period of time in a nice a nice pace. Lots of climbing in and out of the bus. Weather can be a bit cool at times, so don’t assume it will be hot because it’s in July
Our tour through Rockies & Badland Explorers was refreshingly small, a total of 17, and we were broken up into two vehicles with essentially two tour guides that supported both groups with any extra info or photo opportunities at each site. It was also nicely paced and relaxed and very attentive. Highly recommend as it didn’t feel overwhelmingly long given all the sights to take in.
Kids had fun on the tour and the pace was just nice to enjoy each stop.
Very good arrangement, very knowledgeable tour guide and friendly, he knows a lot of the history of the places we visited. Highly recommended.
We enjoyed an amazing day with Jay to the Banlands. He was a great driver. Accommodated our needs and was super knowledgeable. Jay made it interesting, and is great with the locals. I also got to connect with the manager who arranged a separate pickup location for us. It was easy, and communication was great.and when I forgot my phone, even after being reminded, Jay took the time to drop it off for me. I so appreciate this experience. Thank you!
Just book the the trip! Super day to Drumheller and the Badlands. The day was a washout weather wise, but our guide Jay was great, swapping stops round in the hope the weather improved and keeping us all informed and entertained. The drink and snack was much appreciated too.👍 Thanks Jay!
