Itinerary
On this walking tour through Hamburg’s historic old town you’ll pass the stunning 19th Century neo-renaissance Town Hall, built at the peak of Hamburg’s fortune.
We will visit the charming historic Deichstrasse with it’s medieval buildings, and learn how the Great Fire ravaged the old town. Here we will also look at Hamburg’s era-defining red brick ‘Kontor House’ buildings.
Once one of the finest examples of neo-gothic architecture in Europe, the tower now stands as a memorial for the tens of thousands of victims of the allied air raids of World War Two.
Commonly known as the Warehouse District, the Speicherstadt is not only the most beautiful corner of town, but Hamburg’s first UNESCO World Heritage site! Here we will see the gorgeous warehouses that once stored tea, coffee, sugar, spices and much much more
Hamburg’s shining new concert hall, the Elbphilharmonie, is where we will end the tour.

Excellent Guide, a lot of knowledge and good reviews
I did this tour with Bob, my tour guide during a winter in Hamburg with one of the heaviest snowfalls. We started with the Jungfernstieg area looking at belle epoque architecture and the WW1 monument for the 40,000 sons. We moved on to the Rathaus (city hall) and then St Nicholas church. Bob is very knowledgeable of Hamburg's history and the tour was at a good pace. We carried on to the Deichstraße, and covered the great fire and then over to the Speicherstadt and Elbphilharmonie concert building. I would highly recommend this tour for an overview of the sights of Hamburg and its history. Bob was an excellent tour guide.
We had the pleasure of a 3 hours walk with the guide Bob. It was a very historical and a lot of insights in the trip. Very pleasant guide.
It was absolutely great tour with easy pace. We even stopped for coffee as it was cold . Mike explained in detail and with patience he answered all questions we had. I recommend this tour definitely. It is around 3 hours which is including break.
We had an excellent tour of Hamburg. Our guide Bob was very informative, knowledgeable and easy to communicate with. Walking through the streets and sites of Hamburg with Bob showed us is love of the city that he wishes to share with all visitors. Would highly recommend
Excellent tour. Our guide (Bob) was very knowledge and very responsive to our questions. I highly recommend this tour.
Bob was a great guide. Informative and relaxed. Saw lots of things I'd never seen before in HH. Three hours slipped by! Also great on recommendations for other things to do in Hamburg which was really helpful.
Bob was a great guide!: knowledgeable, fun, with both historic GOOD overview and nice fun facts to add. Unusual with that level of information of both arts, history, politics - all related to the city, of course.
The tour with Bob was scheduled to last 2 1/2 hours - it in fact lasted 4 hours 10 45 to 14 45. It was a freezing cold day ( not Bob’s fault of course) but regardless of the weather, no tour should last longer than 2 1/2 hours - people can’t hold their interest any longer. Bob was knowledgeable but needed to be more focussed. We could also have walked faster! Sorry Bob - an interesting tour but too long.
HI , Thank you for the review. Sad you do not appreciate the extra mile that Bob went on the tour.
The guide Bob was very knowledgeable and knew the history of Hamburg extremely well! I highly recommend this tour if you want to know the history of the area. Bob was friendly, helpful and answered all our questions.
