POCKET KITCHEN, WHAT A PEACH!

In southern Tuscany, Grossetto is a beautiful monumental town surrounded by its ramparts. She is fortunate to have, which interests us here, one of the best chefs in La Botte, at least the best in the region. After a beautiful journey, Elena opened "La Cucina Tascabile" (The Pocket Kitchen). She doesn't want to get a star (that deserves it!), but rather focuses with communicative energy and good humor, on producing happy and subtle plates that she prepares in front of you and by the minute. Her dishes are, of course, an ode to the Italian flavours we love, to which she adds a touch as personal as she is judicious. A guarantee of quality, the menu is quite short, focused on local and seasonal products. It offers pasta and risotto as well as meat and fish. Prices, very reasonable for such quality and freshness, range from 15 to 22 euros: Tuna "Chianti"(15 euros), Catalan octopus tail; Sautéed mussels, clams and gambas (18), Pici (large spaghetti typical of Grossetto) with duck stew, Spaghetti/tomato (17), Spaghetti with clams and mullet eggs (20), sea bass fillet, candied octopus (22), candied rabbit leg, grilled Angus (20). For dessert, save yourself room for an anthology pie tatin! The wines give pride of place to Tuscany (the road to Chianti is nearby). The staff is exclusively female in the kitchen and in the room, friendly, attentive, considerate and smiling, without being intrusive. Terrace service also. La Cucina Tascabile, Via degli Aldo Brandeschi 5-7; Grossetto. +39 351 881 8540

Memorable dining experience

The food we had was the most delicious we had on our vacation. Umberto was very charming, and his mother is a fabulous cook.
