I really enjoyed the...

I really enjoyed the tour. However, the only complaint I had was the amount of free time we head. For instance, in Pisa the tour guide told us we had an hour to tour and purchase tickets to go up in the leaning tower. However, she spent another 15 minutes talking, which left us with only 45 minutes remaining. We just walked away from the tour at that point because we wanted to take pictures. But that left no time to go in the tower like she told us we could do.

Last minute cancellation

I rarely leave negative reviews, but I feel this experience deserves to be shared. Our Florence and Pisa tour was cancelled the day before it was due to take place. While I appreciate that unforeseen circumstances can arise, cancelling at such short notice caused considerable disappointment and disruption to our travel plans. By that stage, many alternative tours were either fully booked or significantly more expensive, leaving us with very limited options. What was most frustrating was not simply the cancellation itself, but the timing. When people are travelling, time is precious, and last-minute changes can have a real impact on a holiday that has often been planned months in advance. I hope the company reviews its planning and contingency arrangements so that future customers are not left in the same position. Unfortunately, based on our experience, I cannot recommend booking with confidence. I suggest finding an alternative operator.

Operator response

We regret to hear about your disappointment, but before booking any further activities, we strongly recommend reading and understanding the cancellation policy available on the TripAdvisor website at any time. Your booking was cancelled for a full refund more than 24 hours before the tour start time. The system automatically sent this information to the email provided at the time of booking, allowing you enough time to book alternative options, available by the dozens on the same website. If you are new to TripAdvisor, you are welcome to ask for assistance from the Customer Care team, who are at your disposal at any time. Safe and happy travels.

Highly professional team

The team was highly professional and reassured us right away. We had plenty of time in both Florence and Pisa, and made it back to Livorno with time to spare. A flawless, stress-free day.

Ship port pick up in small group tour

The port pickup got a little confusing. I wasn't expecting the drivers to be next to the ship to tour buses. A better sign for the guide to hold or put on the cars would be helpful. Nice tour idea but too much in Florence. Too long overlooking Florence when a lot was repeated in town. Could barely hear our guide, Daniella, and then she would say one more stop, about 5 times. I think our group was done 5 stops ago. We felt like the entire history of Florence was walked past. She would say, I like to go in areas away from groups but every street we were on, we either came upon or were passed by another large tour group. Whisper boxes could be a help, sometimes it was difficult to keep up with her due to crowds or losing her in the crowd. Barely had an hour for lunch and then whisked away to Pisa. Not enough time to climb the tower so we all stood around for 20 minutes after trying to listen to the guide for 15 minutes and 10 minutes taking a photo. Info could be shared on the way to Pisa so guests have more time to visit and time to climb the tower. There wasn't a line and our guide asked if anyone wants to climb it. But time was limited, I don't know how long it would take me to climb it, I didn't want to make other guests upset. Two separate vehicles with one walking guide. At least our driver was informative. We were back at the port with 90 minutes to spare for our ship. Yes a lot to see but maybe a group decision on when to end for lunch and free time. There was no time in Florence for shopping but we were cautioned about the shopping in Pisa.

Great day

The tour was very good. Lots of history and the architecture is stunning. I wish we had a bit more time to shop. Florence is known for leather. After Florence we visited the town of Pisa and the leaning tower. Overall a great day. I would recommend this tour. Carole

Not the greatest tour

Too much trivial information about sights. Not enough free time. Inconsiderate tour guides, never stopped for photos, never slowed down.

Operator response

This is a sightseeing tour. Guests who prefer more free time for shopping or independent exploration may wish to consider booking the self-guided option of this tour or a private tour. Please note that shared group tours follow a standard pace and cannot be adjusted to accommodate individual guests with limited walking ability. This is clearly stated in the “Additional Information” section of the tour description. When booking future activities through Viator, we strongly recommend basing your expectations on the advertised itinerary, inclusions, and restrictions rather than on personal assumptions. Safe travels.

This was our third tour...

This was our third tour that my husband and I took with Viator on this vacation. This was a group tour and started with a little confusion on the meeting place. All the group went where they were instructed, but Daniella and the driver were actually somewhere else. Not to worry, a quick call and they met up with us a few minutes later. There was one couple that got lost and it took Daniella a while to find them. We left about 20 mins later than planned. This was not the fault of the tour guide. Indeed, it ended up working in our favor as we missed the rush hour traffic and arrived in Florence on time. I feel I need to say that the road to Florence is pretty rough. Also not the fault of the tour company, but you should be prepared for a bumpy ride. Daniella filled us in on many interesting facts about Tuscany and Florence as we drove through the countryside. In Florence we met up with a local tour guide, Riccardo. Daniella also accompanied us, so we were well looked after. Riccardo was a fantastic guide. His pride for his family's lifelong home was evident as he explained the landmarks, architectural highlights and the historical significance of this magnificently beautiful city. There was an issue with a slightly handicapped member of the group keeping up. Daniella, Riccardo and the driver (I'm so sorry that i don't recall his name. These drivers do an amazing job and deserve to be recognized.) worked as a team to mitigate the impact on the group while still providing this individual with the best possible experience. Then we were off to Pisa. Daniella continued to narrate the history of that area as we made the journey there. Immediately upon arrival Daniella arranged alternate transportation onto the grounds for the handicapped person and then walked the rest of us in. She explained the area highlights, let us know what our options were for our free time and also shared some tips so we could make the best of it. After returning to Levorno, they went above and beyond by taking is right up to the ship dock. Many thanks to Daniella, the driver and Riccardo for making this a very special day.
