Itinerary
Will see one of the most important sites of Greece, you will visit the Oracle and the museum. At the foot of Mount Parnassos, within the angle formed by the twin rocks of the Phaedriades, lies the Pan-Hellenic sanctuary of Delphi, which had the most famous Oracle of ancient Greece. Delphi was regarded as the centre of the world. According to mythology, it is here that the two eagles sent out by Zeus from the ends of the universe to find the navel of the world met. The sanctuary of Delphi, set within a most spectacular landscape, was for many centuries the cultural and religious centre and symbol of unity for the Hellenic world and seat of the Pythian Games, the second most important games in Greece after the Olympics, which were held every four years.
Between the sixth and fourth centuries BC, the Delphic Oracle, which was regarded as the most trustworthy, was at its peak. It was delivered by the Pythia, the priestess, and interpreted by the priests of Apollo. Cities, rulers and ordinary individuals alike consulted the oracle, expressing their gratitude with great gifts and spreading its fame around the world. The oracle was thought to have existed since the dawn of time. Indeed, it was believed to have successfully predicted events related to the cataclysm of Deukalion, the Argonaut’s expedition and the Trojan War.
Visit of the archaeological site and the Museum where one can see among other archeological treasures, the unique bronze statue of the Charioteer dedicated to Apollo by Polyzalos, the tyrant of Gela, in 478 B.C. when he won the chariot-race at the Pythian Games. This incomparable statue is a representative example of the ”severe” Attic style, certainly the work of a major artist.

Delphi is an awesome place. It deserves more than a one-day trip. Between the three hour bus ride each way from Athens and the lunch, there is precious little time left for the archaeological site and the museum. There is a lot of walking and climbing at the site, and a lot to see in the museum. Better is to take a bus to the village, stay overnight, spend a whole day at the site and the museum, stay another night and go home the next day. The guide was informative and knowledgeable, as well as low key and unintrusive. The bus was modern and smooth riding, but the seats are too close together. The rest stop going out was good, but the one coming back had only two stalls per sex for two busloads of travelers.
Stavros is an excellent guide as he told us so much about the current and past Greek history and culture as well as mythology. I really appreciate it the tour and would highly recommend it!!!
The bus was comfortably. Although they could go with a smaller bus (only 20 people, bus not even half full) would make the journey in through the small villages and narrow streets more comfortable. The tour guide had extraordinary knowledge and tought in a nice way. However, we didn't do the photo stop at Arachova as outlines in the itinerary. They pick up people at several locations but during booking process there was no possibility to chose from.
Dear client, Thank you for your kind review. Unfortunately the bus sizes that we use are 19 seasted and 50 seated so for group as yours we have to use a big bus and our expertised drivers can handle the narrow streets! As for the pick up service you had book and paid the option guide and transportation which not includes pick up service therefore you haven't the choice for hotel pick up. Warm regards Hara
We had a great time on this tour. Whilst it is a long journey/ full days outing the travel by coach was very comfortable and provided an opportunity to see Athens and the surrounding landscape. Our guide was fantastic, providing both contextual information about Athens and mythological education at Delphi. We opted to not have lunch included and were very happy to enjoy the village stop provided as an alternative.
If you are looking to get out of Athens for the day this is a good option. It may not be for the younger travelers as we did spend a good bit of time in the bus and outside in the heat. The guide was very informative, sometimes more than we wanted to know about current politics but the Greek mythology is interesting .
This was a great experience! A great, fun, knowledgeable guide and really wonderful tour for the price. Highly recommended!
Very knowledgeable tour guide and very beautiful scenery. I paid for lunch with the tour, and it was amazing (and very large portions!). Would definitely use Chat tours again!
The tour was well-organised with bus departure and arrival times kept to. The tour guide had an impressive command of Greek history and culture, which provided very useful context while visiting the museums and sites. Highly recommended!
Our tour guide, Vicky, was amazing! She told us about all major cities along the way, major stops in Istanbul, Greek mythology and history. When there was down time, she taught us Greek words and recommended dishes to try. The site was amazing, she had a schedule for us to follow, but was okay if we were a little late returning to things because we were doing our own thing. She honestly made our trip amazing!
The audio system was very bad, we could hardly understand what the tutor guide. We had to skip our lunch and went back to the museum to go over ourself.
Dear Wenge, The tour starts from the archaelogical site and ends at the museum and lunch free time is 14:30-15:30 so we really don't understand what do you mean "We had to skip our lunch and went back to the museum to go over ourself " Please advise to investigate your complain. Kind regards Hara
