Hosios Loukas is a historic walled monastery situated near the town of Distomo, in Boeotia, Greece. It is one of the most important monuments of Middle Byzantine architecture and art and has been listed on UNESCO's World Heritage Sites, along with the monasteries of Nea Moni and Daphnion. The monastery of Hosios Loukas is situated at a scenic site on the slopes of Mount Helicon. It was founded in the early 10th century AD by the hermit, Venerable (Greek: Hosios) Luke of Steiris (Greek: Lukas), whose relics are kept in the monastery to this day. The main shrine of the monastery is the tomb of St. Luke, originally situated in the vault, but later placed at the juncture of the two churches. The monastery derived its wealth (including funds required for construction) from the fact that the relics of St. Luke were said to have exuded myron, a sort of perfumed oil which produced healing miracles.

Amazing views, great vibes and making lifelong memories.

What an amazing experience that was! Didn't think I would've had so much fun but it was phenomenal! The views from Delphi and the vibe was incredible. The museum is small but packed with artifacts and the ticket is only 20 euro. The small village of Arachova was so picturesque and the food! Omg the food! I would go back just for that. Theo, our driver was extraordinary. Felt so safe, he was so much fun and gave us all these amazing tips for our vacation. I would 100% recommend him to anyone.

Beautiful drive through the Greek countryside.

We were given the perfect amount of time to visit Delphi with the added highlight of seeing Hosios Loukas. Xenofontas was patient with all of our questions about Greece and politics. It was a day full of information and culture.

This is the one! What a fantastic guide and service.

Xenofontas was incredibly knowledgeable about the history, the battles, and all of the locations. It was such a wonderful safe trip.. he was also able to help me plan other locations giving me information about all of the historical sites and which ones to prioritize with my limited time. I booked three different private day tours while in town and this one was the best!

Ancient Delphi-Traditional Arachova

We chose to go to Delphi for a visit to the famous place of ancient Delphi. We had a great time and the area is really beautiful. Our driver behaved perfectly, he was kind and pleasant. The route was beautiful and relatively close to Athens. We also spent some time in Arachova, trying local food. We had an unforgettable time and we would like to do another tour from the many that this tourist office has!
