May was a wonderful guide navigating us around with dispatch. Dazaifu an amazing shrine to visit. I had never seen a golden calf and a unicorn together as shrine guardians. And boating on the canals of Yanagawa being serenaded by the boatman great fun. I would recommend this tour to anyone.
Our trip was excellent and highly recommended. We had a personal tour guide which was unexpected. Our tour guide “ Mr sensei” was very helpful, courteous and gave us very good explanations and recommendations when requested. The Yanagawa boating experience was so peaceful and fun. The recommended restaurant for eel was so delicious. Daizaifu was beautiful and unusual with the roof of the temple with plants growing. We had enough personal time for souvenirs shopping and trying out local delicatessens. Bus and train travel to and from were very smooth. Thank you “ Mr Sensei” for a wonderful experience.
We had the most wonderful day visiting Yanagawa and Dazaifu with our guide, Shinobu! We met slightly ahead of schedule and felt very relaxed with her knowledge of the train schedule and our journey to Yanagawa went very smoothly. The boat tour was astoundingly beautiful and we were fortunate with very nice weather. Our boatman was a lot of fun and shared so much history and had a wonderful singing voice as he expertly navigated the canals. Shinobu then took us for a delicious lunch of steamed eel which was the freshest and most tender I’ve ever eaten. We then got on a train once more and made our way back toward Fukuoka, where we started, but not before making a stop at Dazaifu a beautiful shrine surrounded by gardens. We got to enjoy an umegae mochi which is a mochi filled with sweet bean paste and then toasted shortly so it’s crispy on the outside but soft and chewy center. Right on time we boarded the train once more and returned to our starting point of Tenjin station in Fukuoka. I have so many good things to say about our guide, Shinobu, to write here but if you’re fortunate enough to take this tour I hope you’re fortunate enough also to have her guide you. Her depth of knowledge is great and her English and enthusiasm match. Thank you for a wonderful day!
My son and I enjoyed this tour immensely with our super nice guide, Naoko! The 1hr boat ride was peaceful with special moments of the boatman belting out a trad song. I enjoyed the steamed eel for lunch while my son had katsudon. Now Yanagawa is a really lovely place with little local shops lining up the street that has several torii gates leading to the shrine. It is a sight to behold! This tour is highly recommended👍
Kate, our guide, was soooo organized. She came prepared with name tags, flip books and lots of info about the places we visited. Thoroughly enjoyed the trip.
Guided Train and Boat Tour of Dazaifu & Yanagawa from Fukuoka is super highly recommended and bountiful place.
