Mount Longonot is the extinct volcano that rises from the floor of the Great Rift Valley like a monolith. The mountain has unique feature of the thick forest that lies within the crater of the mountain. The crater rim also provides great scenic views across the beautiful Rift Valley all the way to Lake Naivasha. Major wildlife attractions at Mount Longonot include buffaloes, elands, lion, leopard, bushbucks, common zebra, giraffe and Grant’s gazelles. Lake Naivasha has different bird species and hippos.

Mt Longonot National Park is located 90km from Nairobi city on the floor of the Great Rift Valley. The mt Longonot national park is a popular park for hiking and mountain climbing that takes less than 3-4hrs to climb/hike up and down. It is one of the best adventure day trips from Nairobi. Longonot national park is easy to get to and has the best sightseeing opportunities and one can look inside the mountain crater.
Boat Ride in Lake Naivasha Go on an hour boat ride in this wonderful rift valley lake. The boat ride will take you to see the hundreds of birds in this lake including the diving African fish eagle which dives in the water to catch fish without ever missing. You will also go to the hippo pool and see the hippos as they swim and bleat inside the water while opening their mouths to over 180 degrees.
Great Rift Valley View Point You will make a scheduled stop at the view point on the side of the escarpment to enjoy the view of the Rift valley floor from a birds eye view. The rift valley system was formed 5 million years ago and the rift runs from the red sea through Ethiopia and Kenya and Tanzania. The rift valley is an active volcanic area and has some of the most interesting features including more than 8 lakes, dormant and active volcanic mountains and hotsprings and geysers You can actually see the volcanic Mt Suswa from this high place with their evergreen craters and the undulating green rift valley floor. The view from here is just amazing. Make sure to take as many photos from here as you can.

I did this as my first day in Nairobi. It was wonderful! Jimmy was an excellent driver, arrived on time and had some great insight to Kenya. Felt very safe with him. The hike is great, really enjoyed it and felt super safe as a solo female traveler throughout the day. There ended up being two others on my tour which was great. Would definitely recommend to anyone traveling in the area!! Both the hike and lake were amazing and super fun.

It was an amazing experience. The guide Dominic was super sweet and i could hike on my own pace. Usually the hike is done in 5 hours but i could take as long as i wanted

I had a great day with Mr. Paul at the Mount Longonot and the lake Naivasha. The organization went smoothly and Paul was very punctual and knowledgeable about the places we were passing. I had a local guide to hike up Longonot and would not have made it without his help. Going down is pretty challenging and make sure to carry enough water (I had just over one little - not enough). The lake itself was a relaxing experience even though I am not a fan of animals in general. Highly recommend if you like the outdoors and nature!

Excellent experience with Mr Jimmy. We had an amazing drive to and from Mount Longonot. Very amenable to our needs as a family and a great source of conversation. We hiked to the crater summit as a foursome with his colleague, and then my son and I walked the whole loop to get to the peak. WOW! For reference my son is 10 and he handled it very well with the excellence of our guide, who took my son’s pace and remained encouraging throughout. We were tired at the end of that to attempt the Lake trip so headed back to the hotel. This trip was so easy with pickup and dropoff - I’d highly recommend. So thankful for this incredible experience with many thanks again to our wonderful guides.

Perfect day from start to finish. A great driver , Jimmy is really top , punctual and kind. The hike was just beautiful, a little rough but to do. The boat ride was top especially after the hike. We have seen many animals. And especially a lot of hippo
The day started great with a great driver on time and with a big smile on our arrival. We had a great guide to Mount Longonot, Joshua was very patient , kind to us. Our driver Jimmy is an exceptional person, we spent a pleasant time with him. Do not hesitate to go to Lake Naivasha, it was also great , and especially relaxing after the trekking which was exhausted but it is worth the visit . For Mont Longonot water bottles are forbidden, bags are searched so do not forget your bottles Thank you for everything.

I had an unforgettable hiking experience with Mr. Jimmy and Mr. Domenic. Climbing to the crater was slightly tough, but the views from the top made it worth the effort. On our way up we saw many wild animals like zebras, gazelles, and wild birds. Mr. Davide, the boat navigator at Lake Naivasha, was amazing; he turned the boat ride into an amazing one.
